Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi guys,
For a brief period in June I was self employed and registered as such. I didn't earn much before I packed it in - around 300 quid for a month (you can see why I packed it in).

    I unregistered myself for tax.

Will I still have to tell the revenue about how much I made in June and pay tax on it. Ie. will I have to file my returns etc.. in October?

If so, what is the best way I could do this. Could I use the online service even though I'm unregistered?

    -Dean.

    Hi Dean,
You earned the income in 2009 you will have to pay preliminary tax this year by 31st Oct but you can opt to pay 100% of 2008 self employed income or 90% of this years. If this is the only self-employed income then a 100% of 2008 would be nil. :)

However seeing that you earned so little, you might not have any tax liability but to confirm this you might want to talk to an accountant or you could just call into the revenue and talk them through your situation. I am guessing from your post that you are now unemployed and if you like you can pm with some details and I would be happy to do a quick tax calculation for you for free.

If you are unemployed you may want to consider filing a form P50.
