It's much healthier to start a tiel on a pelleted diet that way they can't pick and choose, some tiel foods have too many sunflower seeds and some are re packaged in shops so you never know how long it's been on the shelf or what brand.

Harrisons is an excellent food but if you can't get it (google northern parrots they sell it) get a good quality mix but also gradually introduce safe veg and a little fruit (all must be well washed) broc. grapes, apple, grated carrot, some digestive biscuit crumbs, rice krispies (those lot only as a treat), plain cooked pasta..if unsure northern parrots sell ready made pasta mixed etc. that you just add water to and cook in microwave allow to cool before serving.

A varied diet as possible but some tiels are fussy so might take some work.

I'm not sure how close you are to Bray, but Bairbre O'Malley vetinary stocks Harrisons. Failing that your best bet is really Northern parrots, they have a great selection of toys for your tiel as well ;)

iv always used the versalaga prestige seed for cockatiels its a good mix and comes in a bag with a ziplock on top to keep it fresh.
