    How many distinctions do you need to get in your FETAC course level five to get a place in UCD etc into the arts

    Hi, its a mandatory 5 distinctions to get into college, but from my past experience you need as many distinctions as you can get!! I did the nursing couse last year and got 8 distinctions and am now starting in DCU but I know of people who got 8 also and didnt get any offers!!

    My advice is to work really hard and to try get distinctions in everything, this may sound daunting now but alot of the work is continous so if you work throughout the year it is not hard to earn the distinctions especially if your interested in the course!!

    You will need 8 distinctions in your modules (which is the maximun number of modules you can present). Only certain FETAC courses are linked and certain modules required. UCD state 5 distinctions but in reality it will be 8 and not everyone will get in wiht 8 due to the increasing numbers using this route.

    Here are the entry requirements for UCD

    Module codes can be accessed at http://www.fetac.ie/modules/Certificates/L5AlphaCodePage2.html

    ELAX - Liberal Arts is only on offer ina restricted number of colleges

    Level 5 Certificate in Language and European StudiesELESX
    The module codes for the Language and European Studies can be access at this link http://www.fetac.ie/modules/Certificates/L5AlphaCodePage2.html- but if you are lucky to get a place this year make sure and double check with the FE/PLC college that you are doing the right module - ask for the codes and not just their titles.

    ELESX
    ELAXX
    ECHSX/ELESX - 5 modules at Distinction Grade. The qualification must include:
    • G20001

      and 3 of the following 12 modules:
    • E20115
    • E30106
    • E30107
    • E30108
    • E30109
    • E30110
    • E20113
    • G20022
    • D20032
    • E20124
    • E20024
    • E20013
    ELAXX - 5 modules at Distinction Grade.
