Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I'm just about to start my thesis and really don't want to lose any of my hard work along the way.

I want to back up my thesis files to an external drive and I was wondering what do you think is the best method to do this?

I'm running vista and I've got a 500gb lacie and a 500gb freecom to hand.

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks

    Synctoy

Says it works in vista so should be ok.
    Set the folders
    Click analyze
    Then Sync

This is the free option after that there is others, id recommend goodsync as a pay choice.

Call me old school, but how about copy and paste? :P

Thats handy if you are moving say one file.

But if you have a folder with loads of files and you edit three or four. Then it gets messy, @ least a sync programme checks if you changed them and only copies the new or edited ones.

yep that was exactly what I needed JeffK - thankyou.

I set up an echo and I automated it with task scheduler. Beautiful ;)

Gone drinking - have 42 sub folders already and I only started last week - copy and paste would take longer than the thesis!
