    Thanks Watty. I always found your posts to be very informative. I guess you have answered the OPs question so thats that. I know nothing about the dispute so won't comment but I can understand the reasons for deleting the thread if it mentioned details that were for mod eyes only.

    Your input will be missed.

    I guess feedback worked in this case despite the best attempts at After Hours style derailment.

    yeah,because the fair balanced and complete series of events has been published in this thread. **** sake,i dunno why at this stage it can't just be said what exactly happened without all this pussyfooting. watty may have been an awesome contributor, but it was hardly the network brains fault he acted like he did. ****,even now i'm side stepping the facts because its probably just gonna be deleted.

    Hagar and Watty left for similar, but not identical, reasons. Shame that peoples threads on this are being removed. Two excellent mods bite the dust - is this the start of a new trend? I hope not.

    Some Facts:
    1. I was planning to step down as moderator and curtail time spent on Boards anyway.
    2. Boards is fantastic at keeping out Abuse, Porn, Shills, Trolls, spam and Numpties/Muppets. There is however no clear resolution mechanism for serious differences of opinion not related to the above.

    3. Dav thought it was a good Idea to give me an Infraction in Mod Forum (AFAIK, the 1st such). It has now expired. But as I regard it as unjust, I'm gone. Boards relies on volunteer Moderators and regular high quality posters to build it. It's unpaid user generated content.
    4. I don't wish to generate the content any longer. Even if somehow I was to return, it would be only to post, not as a Moderator. Returning seems unlikely as Dav obviously believes it was correct to infract me.

    The original post went into the detail of the background, but really that's not the reason I left. Many people on boards know what the nature of the disagreement was, it's not appropriate to to discuss it here.

    Thanks Watty, for the clarification ( circumspect as it may be :) ). I am sorry you left the community through ill feeling, and hope there's not going to develop a trend of unappreciation.

    I hope not too but whats being said isnt exactly both sides of the story.

    Watty would not accept that Boards is a platform for the discussion of many things, some of which are distasteful to some people. In this case the usage of drugs in society. We made the point that boards does not condone or condemn the usage and that discussion of the PLACE in society of drugs was acceptible. Watty told us he would go to the "public media" about our stance (his words, not mine) and still we tried to resolve this issue. Watty then requested to be demodded and we did so.
    I'm sorry to see him go but there is nothing else I feel we could do.

    Hagar was abusive (by his own admission) to another mod in the mod forum and was infracted for that. As a result he requested to be demodded. We did so but I offered a resolution that I felt was fair to all parties including rescinding an infraction I felt was perfectly justified in order to compromise. The resolution wasnt taken up.

    The only "business" in any of this is "none of yours". This thread is closed unless Watty or Hagar want to respond in which case they should PM me and I will post it verbatim and without argument.
