Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Very nice, hopefully there was no 'cheating' in image editing software afterwards.

Light Painting has a long history, I remember stumbling across colour photographs of Pablo Picasso light painting, online, from the mid 1970's.

..and here's Picasso light painting in 1949!

They certainly claim not to be cheating:
An LAPP image is one single photo that are never manipulated by computer enhancement

The Science Gallery at TCD had a light themed evening and one of the exhibitions was a projected screen hooked up to cameras which let you use a phone or any light source to 'draw' on the 'canvas'. Was pretty cool :)

Unfortunately it seems to be one of those things that's suddenly caught on and everyone's at it, including advertisers. I think o2 had an ad a good while back, and there's a recent one from another company with lots of colour (and probably cgi).

    It is what it's.

It can look cool but to me that is it, something that looks cool for a moment and then you move ont o the next page and the next image!

The way you charge the can is pure genius, shaking it in the same way as before, to sloosh the paint around inside, with the marble.

have had loads of ideas for this in the last while. We should set a challenge for some good light graf, see peoples take on it. Wasn't there a boards weekend in a castle recently and they produced alot of shots using rope light etc?

I did a creative photography course last year and we touched on this one evening. Damn good fun! Here is one pic I took from that class:

I've never heard of that light spraycan - I want one!!!

Not sure if you guys are familiar with blipfoto.com, but there are a couple of guys there who post up their light experiments
    Here's a recent one: http://www.blipfoto.com/view.php?id=364623&month=9&year=2009

You could try it at home when it's nighttime and just mess about. I've tried it with a tea light - set it on the table and then move the camera around really quickly to get some light squiggles. But there's only so much of that you can do before you get a bit bored :-)

I'd be interested in that. All I've ever used is a bog standard torch light or a tea-light candle, so I'd probably need something a more suitable light source (light pens or something, I don't know much about those)

I think glowsticks might be quite good for this. Tie one onto a bit of string and swing it around, should give a good wide line of light.
