As per my other thread in HE Video Displays, do you guys know where I could my old 32" Philips widescreen CRT repaired or could you repair it for me? :D

Up until last week it was grand, only 7 years worth of service (and not even heavy use at that), then in the middle of the Ireland match the screen started to flicker really badly, with a small humm/buzz coming out the back every time it flickered. About 10 seconds later it shut itself into standby. Leaving it off for a few minutes didn't help, today it doesn't last 3 seconds on before going off ..I'm thinking it's a power supply issue, but I could be well off the mark.

I'd just like to get it repaired because I don't have enough to get a third TV off you folks :D

    Hey Ashley,

Thanks for that. I'm loving the 8404 as are my folks. Aside from the multimedia support issues, it's a fantastic TV, my eyes are going square from watching it so much - delighted with the purchase!

    Howdy Ash,

Thanks very much for the repair - and thanks to the two guys who put the TV into my mam's car, I heard it was awkward but thanks folks

*edit* Unfortunately after a mere hour of working the screen is back to it's flickering ways of old. I'd give it two more weeks and it'll be unusable. Looks like I made the right call jumping on the Pioneer 32" :)

    Howdy John,

I only paid the €50 booking charge to repair the TV, and the repair guy said the work couldn't be guaranteed because of the age & condition of the tube so no worries, I'll be taking it to the WEEE facility here for recycling :)
