    Hi,
We retiled our main bathroom and purchased a new tiolet and vanity stand/sink to install. However the topilet required a small shelf to be built around it to accommodate the waste pipe., this resulted in us losing about 9 to 10 inches of floor space. End result is the vanity stand/sink no longer fits! What are our rights (if any) in returning the vanity case/sink to the original store in hope of a refund?
would we be entitled to a refund or even credit in the same store?

    Thanks for any info,
    sombaht

Unfortunately, you do not have any rights whatsoever to return the product in your case. The onus is on the customer to ensure that what they are buying fits into where they want it to go. (Of course, if you provided the store with accurate and correct measurements and dimensions, and they recommended this particular product then that's a different story).

However, do check with the return policy of the store you purchased the product from. They may accept returns back, as a gesture of goodwill. Whether it is a full refund or just store credit that they will give you is entirely at their discretion though. Also, if the product was in packaging when sold to you, they may levy a restocking charge as they'd no longer be able to sell on the product as new anymore.

Best thing you can do is to make a polite phone call to the store and see what they say.
