Most tack shops tend to keep their prices pretty close to each other, so you're never going to save a huge amount by shopping around.

You could always try and check on prices online and then pay a visit to your local tack shop and compare prices. They might be willing to make a deal with you on the price. The other option is to try on the different brands/makes and sizes of back protector and find which one fits you best, and then buy it online.

It would also be a good idea to ensure the back protector that you buy is of a suitable safety standard that you can use in competition and in riding schools.

Also, if you happen to live close to the boarder and/or are planning a trip to the UK, you could wait and price back protectors over there.
