Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just came across this so I thought I'd post it here:
Former Formula One driver Alex Zanardi is targeting a place on the Italian cycling team at the 2012 Paralympics.

The 42-year-old had both legs amputated after a crash while racing in the Champ Car series in Germany in 2001.

He returned to motorsport two years later and competed this year in the World Touring Car Championship but he has also taken up handcycling.

He was 15th in Thursday's individual time trial at the Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Italy.

Zanardi's time of 33 minutes, 55.19 seconds over the 19.4km course was 4.45 behind the clear winner Oz Sanchez from the USA, who won gold in Beijing, but he finished just one place below his Italian compatriot Giovanni Achenza.

The guy keeps taking on new challenges and refuses to let the amputations he had as a result of that horrific accident hold him back from doing what he wants to do. I'd love to see him make the Paralympics.

Fair play to him, stupidly had another look at his crash there. Horrible incident.
