    Hi all,

I'm just wondering if someone can give me a ballpark estimate on how much a large size sitting room, a small stairway and two smallish sized bedrooms would cost to sand and varnish. The floorboards are new and in good condition. I know noone can be precise without seeing the place but I'm just wondering roughly. How would you find someone to do this work, what would they be listed under in the yellow pages?

    Thanks,
    Kaz

yeah they'd be listed in the yellow pages.look for flooring specialist.sounds like your doing most of the house.it should be about half the price of timber flooring per square yard.

The guy I use charges about €250 per room to sand and varnish a floor but if you are approaching him about a bigger job such as you have I don't doubt he would be cheaper than that.

Of course it depends on who you get to do it and if they are any good.

The bigger companies charge a lot more for this work and guys who are useless charge a lot less.

The main thing is to get some one who is rec'd to you or you could regret it every time you walk across your floor

hi, im a professional painter and the price S.L.F mentioned is roughly correct but as you may know these things need to be looked at first, this is a very delicate job so you must use someone who knows wat they are doing, otherwise you'll have a very rough finish and patches of shine on parts of your floor. if you need advise or someone to take a look you can pm me and ill get back to you asap!
