Anyone know what I'm looking for?

I'd like to take a mini jack output signal, and split it into separate Left and Right signals so that I can send each of them through individual speakers. The speakers have jack and XLR inputs.

What would be the easiest/cheapest way to do this?

cheapest would be to get an old pair of ear phones and cut the cables.

Yeah but that involves wiring etc, so not exactly easiest.

So all I need is a 1/4" Jack to 3.5mm jack and I'll be able to plug the speakers into my iPod, laptop, etc.

There shouldn't be any impedance issues here, should there?

Do the speakers have built in amplifiers ? i.e are they powered speakers ? If not then you won't hear a lot from them connected straight to the iPod !

That cable won't work as it has sockets, not plugs.

Use with 2 phono to 1/4 jack adaptors. All music shops carry them. Impedance should not be a problem.

But I have two cables for the speakers anyway that I can plug into the sockets so I think that should work.
