Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

can we have a thread on every diver in the Premiership?

he dives. we get it. we know it.

any pool fan who claims he doesn't is nutty; and i don't see anyone denying it really.

we know he's said things in the past claiming he hates divers. it's hypocrisy. again, we get it.

most professionals associated with football talk through their ar$e.

    rooney dives too.

    as does drogba.

    as does ibrahimovic.

    as does robert earnshaw.

    as do most professional footballers.

and they'll all claim they don't.

no point singling out one player as a hypocrite. they're all at it.

let's get over it, and just hope UEFA can come up with the cajones to actually do something about it.

while I agree, I think there is a huge difference between going down easily and diving. Because Ronaldo would get off his feet as soon as he felt the contact from some of the malicious tackles he faced he was able to remain nearly injury free which while infuriating fans is much better for the player in the long term

This thread isn't about other players.

Its about Gerrard who accuses other players of ruining the game by cheating but diving himself and getting no flack from the press.

    Stop referring to other players.

its Liverpool fans deflecting accusations about their captain to other players

It's about getting a rise out of Liverpool fan's. You actually expect them not to retort with incidents of Rooney,Drogba etc.... dives. Everyone knows Gerrard dives and the earths round, so what.

    stevie's a hypocrite.

why is there a thread specifically about him though?

people, i think, are getting wound up because ALL players who dive or go down easily claim they don't.

i'm not deflecting, i'm admitting he's a hypocrite. but so are many many others.

People were very quick to call Eduardo all sorts of names a couple of weeks ago,and he had his own thread, no one seemed to have a problem with that thread, always different though when it is about one of your own players.

but there not all claiming how wrong it is and how it's ruining the game

    do you see the difference?

    i know, you're right.

you only have to look at some of the reactions to people claiming Rooney dived the other week too.

it's instinct. people, rightly or wrongly, tend to defend their own players as much as possible.

Come off it lad, the fact he plays for Liverpool has more to do with why you posted in this thread than anything he has said. You're fooling no one.:pac:

    don't bother.

    this thread is embarrassing enough.

    gifs and all now.

you'd swear gerrard was the only player to ever say anything hypocritical ever.

    hilarious stuff.

Gerrard has always been one of the worse divers in the premiership. It's not commented on much because he's english.
When Liverpool desperately need a goal and there's 20 minutes left, he's up there in the top 3 divers of all time (according to my stats).

I'm not sure i get the point of all this. Surely threads are for debatable points. Gerrard goes down exceptionally easy. Gerrard has made comments about disliking divers. Both of these things are facts. I don't see anyone arguing or debating against them. Possibly stick a bow on this puppy as there isn't really anywhere to go on this discussion without going off topic?

I'm beginning to think that if you cant beat them join them.

It's become clear that diving will never be removed from the game. Clearly if your opposition is prepared to cheat you by diving then perhaps a taste of their own medicine is in order.

you're absolutely right, because Rooney has nought to do with this thread. In fact any comment that doesn't agree with Gerrard being known to go down easy when he gets the chance (or any saying he doesn't but i doubt we'll find many of those) are off topic, meaning the thread has absolutely nowhere to go.

Theres probably scope here for an actual thread, not one i'll be taking part in, but still, might be worth a title change so that we dont end up with a thread with 6pages and 99% of it being OT. Which this post is. So i'll stop now.

(to keep it on topic, gerrard goes down easier then a nice cold Paulaner on a hot summers day)

“I think everyone who watches me play knows I am an honest player who tries to be as honest as they can,” Rooney said. “The ball got played through, I got on the end of it and got contact with the ball and then I got contact [from Almunia], which knocked me off balance. The referee saw it as a penalty.”Asked whether he had ever dived, Rooney replied: “On holiday, yeah. No, I have never intentionally tried to dive. There have been times when I've stayed on my feet and tried to shoot rather than going down. I don't think it is fair for players to dive and try and cheat the other team.”

    Wayne Rooney is a saint.

'Everyone who watches me play knows I am an honest player,' Rooney said.

'I have never intentionally tried to dive. In fact, there have been times when I have tried to stay on my feet and get the shot off rather than go down.

'It isn't fair for players to dive and try to cheat the other team. And it is not just cheating your opponents, you are cheating the fans as well.'
