A team of four students from St. David's Greystones won the Overall Prize this evening in the
Formula One World Championships Schools Competition
    in London.

The competition involved designing and manufacturing a miniature racing car.

Competing against 30 other teams from places as diverse as Singapore, Canada, United States and Australia, the Koni Kats as they are called also won
    Best Oral Presentation
and Best Engineered Car (an award they received from none other than Lewis Hamilton).

Well done to the students and their teachers.

They have done their school, their community here
    and Ireland proud!

The second thing that struck me was that having gone through a large part of secondary school education in the UK, it's hard to believe that I would have been reading about a group of four British students accepting such a prize.

Eh...what?? Is Greystones not an Irish town!!

yeah, I think thats his point, he's suggesting the Irish education system is better than the UK one he attended (at least in areas of science and technology).

It was featured on the BBC's F1 coverage over the weekend too. It's a fantastic achievment.

The Koni Kats had to fundraise in order to participate in the London finals. This fundraising was to include paying for substitute cover for the two teachers who helped them prepare their entry. Can't say I'm surprised!

    This is more like it!
Recognised internationally and having been given a hero's welcome at the airport and back at St. David's by their school mates, the Koni Kats are shortly to be honoured by the community
