Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The new hasn't eclipsed the old - suggestions on crop?

I'm considering using this shot of my daughter for an advertising flyer, but I stumped as to what the best crop of the shot might be. I'm trying to put a strong emphasis on the fact that my work is different from your typical studio shoot.

i really like the shot and the current crop but as an advert it is (imho) a terrible idea. portraits are all about capturing personality, seeing the eyes. A child running away from the camera just sends out every message that you don't want prospective clients seeing

I would agree with dotorg here to be honest, if you had your daughter running to the camera it would have a much higher impact. The only time I take pictures from behind really is weddings as below where there is significance, looking to the future, this just says to me the the child was in high spirits and you werent gettign attention, I don't mean that in a bad way at all, its just as a mother I'd be more likely to go for someone who has an engaging adverts, where the child is lookign to the camera rather than running away from it:o

I like it. I think its all to easy to forget that most people who see this or mostly those its is aimed at aren't going to be looking at it with photographically critical eye, so if it breaks some convention they won't even be aware. I think it does need a crop though, as the sun burst is a little distracting. But overall I do like it.

I agree with dotorg - nice image but not not one I'd consider well suited for advertising a portrait business.

I like it too. Personally I'd do an almost square crop on it while maintaining the height. I'd crop the right hand trees out somewhere in the white gap (where the very backround tree sits).

If you want an example shout.
