Mascherano is a quality player man. He would walk into most teams. The fact that Lucas is terrible shouldn't take away from Mascherano.

masherano is a quality player by breakin up other teams attacks (fair enough) but liverpool have 2 players in the team today who haven't got the slightest bit of interest in goin forward!

Mascherano has had more completed passes than anyone else on the pitch according to the commentator...and he has the stats. Plus, that was a nice 35 yard pass he gave there a minute ago that set Benayoun up on his mazey run.

    Torres 3-2

Nice ball in by Babel, who has been decent since coming on.

Think he is showing again that he needs to be on the right hand side or upfront rather than the left side.

Bloody hell, how high off the ground did torres get there? And with two men marking him, that man for man marking is rubbish :)

So true, he looks much more dangerous out there. It also curbs his instinct to cut in and shoot from 30 yards out, which is probably a good thing.

Commentator just picked up on something that's been annoying me, Stevie G is doing very little to close anyone down. Just because you play 'up front' doesn't mean you don't have to do it, look at how much work Nando does.

Yeah but he's still a bit rubbish so far this season. ;)

LOL at people saying Babel looking good.He has given the ball away 90% of the time he's had it. Headless runs and careless passes.

His only meaningful contribution has been the assist.

yaa dont tell me you think other wise

amount of times he gave the ball away so easily is pretty bad

Three points that was just about deserved, but worrying signs yet again from Carragher, especially in that first half.

Will be glad when Aqulani is match fit too as I am hoping he will bring some life to the midfield that has been missing all season with the absence of Alonso.

Nice to see Torres get a brace and good to see Dirk on the scoresheet again. Johnson and Insua look solid and Yossi had another good game.

Lucas and Gerrard were average, Skrtel was about the same and Carragher was the weak link today.

West Ham looked threatening at times and have some good players with Heinz looking the pick of their team today. They could have had more than two goals in the first half and if they had done so, who knows how the game would have turned out.

Still a win is a win at this point, Leeds up next.

Delighted to see Torres backing up his words midweek.

And Yes, I did think Babel looked much better then he has done. Yeah he gave the ball away at times, but he was also nicely involved in things too, which is a change from recent times. He tried to get in on every move and looked to have a much better attitude imo. If he keeps working he might actually have a place at LFC, still not good enough atm, but its a step in the right direction.

    Torres MOTM

Was right about 3 goals for Liverpool anyway :)
not so right about the clean sheet though:(

Two more goals from set pieces (admittedly one a penalty) very disappointing.
    :(:(:(

Still three points away from home so :) and nove on to the Carling Cup on Tuesday and a change of scenery.

    Nice way to contribute though.

Yeah agreed. He did very well for it, nice ball too.

But to say he was good today is ridiculous.

I was really impressed with Babel against debrecen. There seems to be more about him when hes on the right. He can cut inside and go on the outside when on the right. When hes left side he always does the cut back inside thing and players can read it to easily. Hes pretty bad with his left peg.

Just said Id quote myself from earlier on today to re-emphasise my point and be smug :P

Seriously though while not perfect from Babel hes done well in the last two games. Way way way prefer him out on the right as opposed to the left.

Great to see Torres back in form even though he had 3 goals in 5 games before this his touch seemed back to his old self.

We are playing well and deserved to win. Our defence is dodgy as fook though. Getting more worried about Carra by the game now. Agger is back in training now aswell so thats good news too.

Did anyone see Gerrard giving up on so many balls where he could of easily chased down? Babel gave him a bad pass and he didnt even look for it but Torres who was further behind chased back and got in a tackle. Gerrard would seriously want to cop the **** on.

Im going to give Bael a rare bit of praise. Held the ball up very well, got stuck in, skinned Illunga twice and a great cross for the goal.

Maybe its just that the bar for his performances hasbeen extra low recently but giving the ball way a few times isn't going to completely take away from all the good he did today.

Not as ridiculous as saying he played poorly.

    Seriously, credit where its due.

It is so refreshing for me to be able to praise him.

carraghers legs can't be gone at 31, he is the same age as rio and frank lampard played in the same youth cup final as those guys, but he is playing crap though, he was playing poorly at the back end of last season as well and then the arbeloa thing at west brom made him look stupid

Great result to get away with 3 points at Upton Park. Happy enough (apart from the defending again)
