But I now have more RAM than my 10 year old PC hard drive space. I currently have 8GB ram and my HD space 10 years ago was shy of 8GB

Time flies eh? I remembered only the other day running AoEII and UT on that beast of a machine.

Hopefully in 8 years time we'll be able to say the same again. More than 1TB of ram, thank you very much. :)

You might need to get 2TB just to be sure. MS recs 512GB for Windows 14 but we all know it needs 1TB at least, and then there's the apps.

First PC was an AMD 233mhz, 32mb, 3.2GB and an amazing 4mb dedicated video memory. Cost ST£2,200. I was the envy of the college. One computer lecturer recommended a 500mb partition for the OS and another same size partition for the apps and just leave the rest unallocated in case I would ever need it!

We've come a long way indeed.

My phone has a faster processor (~533 Mhz), more RAM (~288MB) and more storage (8GB microSD) than my first PC ten years ago (PII @ 266 Mhz, 256 MB RAM, 2GB PATA HDD). Crazy to think that something that fits so nicely into my hand has more power than the hulking beige box that lived downstairs.

Ah yes AoE 2, BG2, UT, they were the days. I just don't get as captivated by games as I used to *wistful sigh*

Yes, and since that picture was taken, we can now get 32GB SD Cards
