This is reported in todays C.P. What was the point in all the hullabaloo about this facility if Aer Lingus aren't using it? It was reported about a person having to wait an hour and a half in JFK as they weren't allowed to use the Shannon emigration.

Aer Lingus aren't using it because they have flights that can start in Du blin and continue on and it'd be too much of a logistical nightmare to get everyone (and their luggage) off, checked and back on, but once Dublin comes up to speed then they'll do it. They also complain that because they have to go through the international terminals in the states as well that there wouldn't be further logisitcial problems.

As someone who believes that Aer Lingus has no interest in Shannon and would be happier to have it closed, I think it's just excuses

So much for the US customs post at Shannon... heralded as a economic boost to the airport and region after many many setbacks... then a slap in the face....

Dublin Airport is getting the exact same thing next year... how does that help?
