Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've been taking some photos of paintings recently and now it may become a regular thing and I need to talk money. What's reasonable to charge?

The photos are good and the colour is accurate enough to be used for catalogue, prints etc.

The paintings are this guys income so this isn't like a photo of a hobby it'll be used professionally.

Charge is apersonal thing relly, what value would you put on it? I shot works of art for an artist before, I had to travel to 3 locations and it took some time to do each, obviously the attention to detail is important and these works were huge so it was a hard job. I charged only €200 for a disc containing the pictures which may have amounted to around 40 or so images. All in very high quality files. Some may say it was high some low but these werent for catalouging, just for the artist to use in lectures, I had to take time and effort and travel into consideration and I was only working in photography a couple of months.

ok firstly in terms of cost you need to work out what it will cost you + your hourly rate

photographing art is not as simple as it may seem

firstly you need to be able to manage colour very accurately, not by eye, by measuring

secondly, lighting, if they are oils or acrylics lighting is essential and very difficult, as the image is 3d and you are going to flatten it to 2d

they way these are normally dont are they shot on medium format film or high end medium format digital cameras
