#90 or #09 possible scam ?

Hi just heard in work of a scam doing the rounds (he said ,she said ,no proof ),but it sounds plausible . An "engineer" from whatever mobile company rings you and tells you they're testing the line etc and will you enter #09 or #90. The story goes that they can then freely use your sim card .
