^^^ Thats a gorgeous picture Daycent. Is that a wild hedgehog or a pet one? He/she is really beautiful. Nice contrast colours too :)

Thanks Katie, it's a pet hedgehog. It's some specific breed but I can't remember the name...

    seagulls & crow pic

    I love this pic.

I've just started processing and cropping my pics and never am sure where to stop when cropping.

If I had taken this (big IF) I think I'd have cropped a little more from the left of the pic, which might draw more attention to the crow.

This pic is much better than anything I could produce and I wonder if my idea of composition is entirely wrong?

I'm far from someone who knows composition.
I just shoot what I like and have the luxury of time.

    rainbows in Limerick

In the same spirit as my last post, I think these shots are wonderful, particularly 1 & 2.

I've a long way to go before I might achieve these.

Again, my question is where to stop cropping?

If it was me, on the 2nd pic, I'd have cropped back to the right hand edge of the tower on the right.

The way it is presented is great but I don't understand why.

Maybe I'm simply not an artist at heart!

I would appreciate and heed any advice.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that ol' ruse. Perfectly acceptable.

ya, you're right about the cropping. the bridge is the primary feature in that photo and i've left a partial bit of castle poking out taking away emphasis on the bridge but you get sick of cropping every single photo after a while :) . whatever you feel is the main feature in your photo, try cropping to put emphasis on that feature. another thing that i find good is to use the angles and lines of surrounding objects to lure the viewers eyes towards that subject. i am no professional photographer by any means but if you want your photo to be that little bit more dramatic, i suggest to always shoot raw, so you can change the exposure, contrast, colours etc. before converting to Jpeg.
