Theres a handy program you can get, it's called image resizer, one of the windows powertoys. Just do a google search and you'll find it. When installed you can right click on any picture and the option to resize will come up on the rclick menu without opening any other program, plus you can highlight multiple pictures and it will resize and create copy's of them all without having to do it 1 by 1.
    Hope this helps

You'll need to resave in something like PhotoShop or GIMP at a lower quality. Converting to just about every other format will increase the filesize as they aren't lossy formats.

If you're trying to clear up disk space, use ccleaner.

Edit: yup, image resizer should do the trick too.

Paint.net has a very good JPEG encoder, and as you are saving an image you get to choose a quality percentage and you see the effects and projected file size in real time.

For the majority of images JPEG is going to give you the best file size compared to any other format (PNG is better for computer generated images with large areas of the exact same colour)

To reduce a JPEG file size, you probably need to reduce the DPI (dots per inch), the resolution, or resave with a lower quality percentage.

yeh - like - Christ, JPEG is one of the best image-compression format out there. k123456, download L-View and just reduce their size using that.

cant compress a compressed file with out serious file damage. a 1mb jpeg reduced to say 200kb, will look aweful unless you reduce mp...then it prevents furure printing... i recommend either dvds or pix.ie/flickr.com tbh

Do what i do when i am uploading pictures, even though they are jpegs open them with microsoft paint and save as jpegs with a different filename. The new images will be smaller in size (memory wise of course :) )

Photobucket or imageshack etc. will resize as you upload if that helps.
