Handy Info: How to add your UCC email to gmail.

    This could be very useful to some.. Much easier to check your gmail and see your ucc emails along with everything else.

    Tried it myself and it work's perfectly so said Id pass it on..

    Log into Gmail and go to settings up on top. - Accounts and Import tab
    Click Add POP3 Email account.
    Enter your ucc email in the email address box (Might be a good idea to use an alias* with your name rather than your number)
    On the next page enter your student number for the username and the password you use for the sit.ucc.ie site.
    The POP server is student.ucc.ie but this should autofill after you type in your email. Click add account. Follow the prompts yourself to add the ability to send from your ucc account etc..







    *If you go into options - alias when logged into UCC webmail there's an option to add another alias for your account. Very useful for example to make an email address without your middle initial. There's one slot free so you can add whatever you like assuming it's not already in use. All mail sent to this new address goes to your UCC mailbox and hence gmail after the above setup.

    This could be useful as a sticky if people find it handy..

    Note: I have nothing to do with UCC's tech support or anything, just a student with an interest in this kind of thing.

    Good advice. Did it myself recently and it makes checking emails a lot easier.

    Does does redirect mail from the ucc email to gmail, leaving your UCC email empty ?

    Whatever happened to those plans to change the student email system? Remember at the start of the summer an email asking us to take a survey on our choice of email system went out and we had to choose between gmail and Microsoft Exchange Server?

    Thanks for the info anyway :)

    When your setting it up with gmail there's an option to "leave a copy of mail on server".. which would leave the mail in your UCC box and send it to your gmail.
