Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey guys

I recently inherited a PC from my brother who's gone travelling. I have just brought the new MMO Aion and have been playing it for the last couple of nights. However, I seem to have dreadful stuttering in the game, at first I thought it was simply bad lag but it would appear its some other problem.

I immediately thought that it was the graphics card driver's out of date and sure enough they hadn't been updated since 2007. But I installed the latest ones from Nvidia and it hasn't made any difference.

The spec's of the PC are:

    Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3Ghz
    2 GB Ram
    Vista
    Home Premium 32 bit
    Geforce 8800GTS

He seems to have a load of crap installed on the PC which I'm thinking could be effecting the performance. I'll work through getting rid of this stuff (any tips actually?), but I dont know whether anyone has any idea's what the particular problem about the stuttering could be? I've changed the various resolution settings in game and even 800 x 600 is causing the same stuttering.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Yes I have,

Try this Game Booster http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html, Its a nice little free program that shuts down most of the background programs while your gaming.

Also this Advanced System Care http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html, Game booster is integrated into the second program

Thanks for the reply Big Lar, I installed both of those programme's and ran them. Unfortunately they dont seem to have improved the performance noticably.

In game, I have the FPS turned on and its happily between 50 - 70 FPS, then it starts to stutter and it drops the FPS to 1 - 2 FPS.

I remember having a similar issue a number of years ago and it was solved by simply increasing the RAM on the PC (at the time), but I really dont see the need to do that with the PC I've been given. Its still a reasonable spec isn't it?

Did you go through all the steps with Advanced System Care, Like defraging the Hard Drive, System optimization and such ?

It could be your connection to the server also like Packet loss ?. Have you tested your connection ? - Try playing the game in the morning when the net is quiet.

You may have the game settings to high, The 8800 is a fairly newish card, but graphics have taken an awfull leap in the last year or so.

    Or reinstall the game.
