Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All,

I will be heading to Istanbul and Petra in the next 2 weeks and was wondering if the following lenses are sufficient:

    18-55 - standard kit lens
    canon 55-250mm IS
    sigma 10-20mm
    canon 50mm f1.8 II

All of this on a 500D.

    Any thoughts or recommendations?

    Thanks.

    Looks good.

Petra is incredible and I only had my lumix with me but still got great results. You've well enough kit.

I would say don't bring the lot though, bring it over but pick one or two as you'll be doing a lot of walking in Petra and it is super hot.

I'd probably bring the 10-20 and 50mm 1.8 into Petra anyway, you won't have too much of a need for a lot of zoom. With that being said, the 55-250 is relatively light so it won't make too much of a difference.

I'd leave the kit lens at home. That forces you to shoot wide or long or prime, and each of those makes you think and work for your shots, but those shots are usually the cracking good ones.
