IE6 dropdown menu typing problem

Hey, I have a select dropdown with a list of times in the day and the problem I'm having is that say for instance you want to highlight 14:00, you can just type 14 and it moves to that option. Hey,

I have a select dropdown with a list of times in the day and the problem I'm having is that say for instance you want to highlight 14:00, you can just type 14 and it moves to that option.

IE6 however stops checking what you've typed after the 1 so it stops at 10. If I keep pressing 1 it moves through them all but i need it to go straight to 14

Is there a way around this for IE6??

Note: I know its crap asking about IE6 compatibility but its a requirement for me don't ask why.
