Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok here is a new idea for a thread. Pick an artist that you have recently discovered and are really impressed with their stuff. They can be totally new and unknown, or actually been around for ages but just new. Add a bit of a Bio and a link to where we an listen to their stuff too.

Hopefully will be an interesting thread where we can all learn about new artists.

    Ok my first one is:

Luca Bacchetti (Ovum Records / Wagon Repair)

    xtrabass_profile.jpg
Luca Bacchetti was born in Castelnuovo Garfagnana, Italy. At the age of 15 he was already very keen on black music, and especially the worldwide hip hop scene. Then at the age of 18 he started broadcasting on the radio producing radio shows that were based on club culture. He quickly evolved and found his new inspiration in the electronic scene and before long he gained a good reputation as an expert in club culture and new sounds.

He is ranked amongst those dj's who can't be classified with regard to the genre and style. He has got a very extensive and well constructed musical knowledge including black, nu jazz, brokenbeatz, breakbeat, drum'n'bass, passing from minimal house to tech house with breakbeat influences. He quickly began to travel world-wide coming in contact with the international music scene and in particular the British scene. London is his point of reference where he experienced stimulating sound sensations. During the last ten years, besides giving his full attention to the electronic scene in the european underground he also started working in many clubs, producing radio programs on 'club culture' and hosting his own radio shows with guest stars from the italian and international clubbing scene. A special emphasis must be given to his production 'Planetaria' by which he anticipates the birth of the asian phenomenon.

He started promoting a DJ/VJ set around italian clubs based on the asian underground based on the stimulation of the five senses. He has also worked with the S.A. Immagini agency as a music adviser for tv programs on Sky Tv, Mediaset and Rai. In 2002 with his friend colleague Pokai,he creates 'Bond Street' and with 'Personal Jesus' he makes a name for himself in the european and italian charts. He once said when asked to describe himself 'I am a DJ who plays what I am, and I am what I play,' Luca embodies this restless spirit and is costantly searching for that cutting edge sound. Already in these past few years he has produced records collaborating with the likes of Alex Neri, Marco Baroni (Planet Funk) Bini & Martini and Joe T Vannelli. At present he is working with Tenax Recordings producing house and electronic music whilst continuing his work as a renowned club DJ.

    Dan Habarnam http://www.myspace.com/danhabarnam

Romanian DnB chappy, too underground to bother writing a bio - "Zoom Back Camera" on his myspace is fecking amazing and was his first real (vinyl, in other words) release, i've been caning it on the radio and so have the likes of marcus intallex bailey and flight.

Loxy and Flight have picked up on him and if the distribution Gods smile on us there should be few more of his tunes on the way out in the next few months

Really refreshing, quirky upbeat stuff; percussive, stripped down, groovy and funky, quite unlike anyone else around at the moment... Clearly a massive fan of obscure 70's Italian horror movies too

I'm going to go for Faskil - Faskil's Homepage
He may live in Paris, but don’t call him French. Journalist by day, DJ/producer by night, Faskil hails from none other than the culture-rich Belgium. There are no superhero tales to tell of a “child star” or “music wonderkid”, but if you have to be born with the talent, then perhaps it took Faskil a little while to realise what great potential was about to be unleashed when he started to tinker with his toys…

Like most great tales, this one began on a rainy day sitting inside in front of the computer. And as one (generally) does, Faskil decided to play around with some trackers he had on his PC. Turning some (digital) knobs and fiddling with some (once again digital) buttons, he began to realise that he might have just been on to something! And the rest is history…

Well maybe not, but in 1995 he teamed up with El Borbah to form the duo of Bump & Grind. It didn’t take them long to sign a deal with Exit Records, and over the years our ears were graced with not just one, but three albums. They were very well received throughout the electronic music community, particularly due to the way they blended lush soundscapes with the more eccentric sounds of modern electronic.

2005 saw the emergence of Faskil as a solo entity rather than as a member of Bump & Grind, and it didn’t take long for him to become somewhat of a cult favorite amongst the devoted fans of progressive house. His solo work has been picked up by labels such as Panda Recordings, Silk Records, microCastle Music, Triptik, Frisky Records, and Polytechnic Recordings. Aside from original productions, Faskil has lent his hand to remixing a wide range of artists, from the likes of Orbital, Luca Ricci, Derek Howell, Mango and Burufunk, to Harland and Gemma Hayes – every single work gaining praise from all corners of the globe.

Faskil is also a member of Snowgaze, a more downtempo oriented project with his friend Chrisman and has recently re-activate his electronica band BNG.

Aside from producing and remixing (and also being an uber-cool journalist), Faskil launched the Connected parties in Paris, with his friends Birdy & Boombatcha, and also hosts a successful monthly show on Frisky Radio titled “Silly Waffles”. He seems unstoppable, right? Well he might just be…

I really like his sound and some of the tracks he's been writing, particularly his remix of Gemma Hayes 'At Constant Speed'. Really good progressive house, and some of his mixes are superb too.

    Paranormal Attack - http://www.myspace.com/officialparanormalattack

aranormal Attack..s road to success began in 2002 with a track that struck on to dancefloors all over the world; the Metallica..s seek and destroy remix. Paranormal Attack, composed by Rui Oliveira, Aka Dj Xangaii (Vocals, Guitar and synthesizers) , Gonçalo Miranda also in the synthesizers and Lucas on the drums, worked hard to achieve the spotlights, conquering electronic music lovers along the way and, to the Band achieve their goal nothing was left unnoticed.

In the end of 2005, the band releases their first album titled ?Phenomenon? released by Chemical Crew Records in Tel Aviv, Israel. All of the Album tracks were written and produced by Xangaii ,that back then was already showing a really strong and mature mix of different music influences as the Hard-electro, Rock, Pop and Classical Music. ?Phenomenon? was responsible for the big projection to the electronic music movement back in 2006, and, songs like ?Be with You? and ?Wild? made a huge success all over the world. In 2006 the band was invited to produce with Chorão,vocalist of the Brazilian Punk/Rock band ?Charlie Brown Jr? , the song ?Vão fazer de novo?, soundtrack to the Buena Vista International movie ?O Magnata? directed by Johnny Araújo.

Still in 2006 Xangaii was invited by Vasco Boucinha (vocals in the song" Wild"), vocalist of the th Portuguese Pop/Rock band ?Wonderland? to make part with the synthesizers in the band..s 4 album ?Sensation? released by Universal Records Portugal. In October of the same year Paranormal started shooting the DVD of their rainy but spectacular tour across Brazil and was invited by Skazi to be a guest artist to play guitar and synthesizers at the XXXperience Special Edition (São Paulo, Brazil), an electronic music festival to more than 30.000 music lovers. This concert also had as guest artists Igor Cavalera, drummer in the Brazilian former band ?Sepultura? and the Israeli Mc Big Fish.

The year of 2009 was the chosen one to release their 2nd album ?My Beats gonna Rock you?, after months of work and dedication.

To be able to continue the success of their premier album ?Phenomenon? wasn’t an easy task but the album ?My Beats gonna Rock you? came to make a statement, Paranormal Attack is here to stay and the living proof is the album..s single..s success. The first single ?Walking in the Sun?, a song that fits right in to the band..s captivating, intense and melancholic style. Once again the band overcame all of the expectations with the songs ?Hollywood?, ?Single Round? remix to the Portuguese band ?One Million Dollar Lips?, ?Never wanted to dance? remix to the North-American band MSI, ?Why don..t you come along? and of course, ?My Beats gonna Rock you? the inspiration single to their album.

Seven years of their carrier have passed with a released oh their premier album, next to release their 2nd album and they already have conquered millions of people all over the world with their songs (Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Israel, Russia, EUA ? New York, India, Germany , Greece, Serbia and South Africa ? Cape Town). The Success of Paranormal Attack is simply unavoidable.
