[BPB] Boards Photography Book Update Thread. [--> 16th October, 2009 Update <--]

The various threads for the 2009 Boards Photo Yearbook have been moved across to the Photographic Expeditions sub-forum. There were just too many Stickies in here.

This thread will be used by those who are running the Project & Mods to inform of decisions reached in the other threads, be that by consensus, majority or meleocrisy. There will also be reminders posted here.

Please do not post in here only post in the other relevant threads.

oscarBravo has posted the image specifications, crop factors and other technical details which you will require to make your submission here

In this post melekalikimaka has set out the email address to use for your submissions - boardsyearbook2008 -at-gmail.com (obviously replacing the -at- with @) - Yes its the same one as last year which is why it is boardsyearbook2008 rather than 2009.

Ok, slightly worrying headline ^^^^^^ and it should be for some people.

We are seeing messages from users (more than one) on thread which indicate that they have submitted but we don't appear to be getting the files through on email. As other submissions are getting through we're assuming some problem at your end and you will need to resolve it.

How will you know if there is a problem?

When a submission is received, oscarBravo will confirm with a mock up of what your page of the book will look like. Apart from these being really cool to see, they serve a significant purpose in acknowledging receipt of your submission. No return email to you - no submission received.

If you haven't gotten a return email from oscarBravo (well in fairness it takes a little while to prepare them properly so allow a reasonable period before panicking) then your submission has not been received and you will need to rectify the situation.

If you received an email from oscarBravo then there is nothing to worry about. Move along, nothing to see here.

Please, please, please, check that you have received a return email and resend if you haven't / make contact with oscarBravo via pm if there is a continuing problem.

The submission details are linked for convenience earlier in this thread.

Make sure you've read update #3

Most are doing this bit right, but when I submitted earlier I had to go digging for what information is required to be submitted.

Also if you are having submission problems, a user advised that they had an incorrect email address using the current year. the email address is the same as last years as as posted in the earlier threads. Worthwhile just to check.

With 28 hours to go to the deadline, I have a 48-page book. Steady progress, but still less than half-way there!

Also, almost half of the "definite" list has yet to submit a photo.

There seems to be confusion around photo sizes. Several people have forgotten to resize their photos, or didn't realise that they were supposed to.

If your photo is landscape orientation (wider than tall), please resize it so that it fits in a 2521x1680 box. In other words, one dimension should be equal to one of those dimensions, and the other should be equal to or less than the other. In still other words, sizes such as 2521x1680, 2200x1680 or 2521x1600 are all fine.

Similarly, if it's portrait orientation (taller than wide), please resize it to fit a 1442x2163 box.

If your resized picture's dimensions are either bigger than both of these, or smaller than both of these, you're doing something wrong.

Finally, if you're hopelessly confused by all of this, just send the original photo and I'll help you out as best I can.

The deadline has passed for those who said they'd definitely submit (and, to be fair, most of them definitely did), so now it's the reserve list's turn.

I've PMd the people on the reserve list to get a photo to me by midnight Wednesday 14th.

If there's still room after that, we'll review, so if you have a photo you'd like to submit and you're not on a list, or even if you're a "definite" that missed the deadline, watch this space for last-minute updates.
