Catch me if you can (1989)http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097029/

    In need of help.

The film is Asian. Think either Hong Kong or South korean. Think it was made in the last 5 years at least. Was about a male. Who worked fixing cameras or developing the pics in his apartment. Everyone assumed he was a weirdo, except a young girl who was his neighbor and they got on great. Her mam was involved in a drug heist from under a major crime lord. The crime lord sent his cronies to kill her off and kidnap the girl. The man fought the cronies but they got away. He went on a mission to save the girl but problems got in the way. He was a former specialist in something trained by the police force. His wife was pregnant and shot dead in a hit.

    The Man From Nowhere, maybe?

    IMDB Synopsis:
An ex-special agent CHA Tae-shik's only connection to the rest of the world is a little girl, So-mi, who lives nearby. Her mother, Hyo-jeong smuggles drugs from a drug trafficking organization and entrusts Tae-shik with the product, without letting him know. The traffickers find out about her smuggling and kidnap both Hyo-jeong and So-mi. The gang promises to release them if Tae-shik makes a delivery for them, however it actually is a larger plot to eliminate a rival drug ring leader. When Hyo-jeon's disemboweled body is discovered, Tae-shik realizes that So-mi's life may also be in danger. Tae-shik becomes enraged at the prospect that So-mi may already be dead and prepares for a battle, putting his own life at risk.

The movie was on RTE a fair bit a few years ago.
Small town, tried to make town into a tourism spot with a water park in the desert area, there was a biohazard thingy, and they were quarantined.
    Can't remember much more.

    Any one help?

I remember seeing a film years ago about these monsters that lived in the sewers of an American city and they would drag people down and kill them.

    Anyone any ideas?

Think it was made in the 70's or 80's.

I think this was a Swedish movie. A man has a family and his wife is a cop. She dies (I think in a car crash or by suicide). She had blond hair. It was made fairly recently (perhaps during the last 10 years).

Frozen Land (Finnish: Paha maa) is a 2005 critically acclaimed dark Finnish film.

This film begins with a youth passing off a dud Euro note in a shop but later on a female police officer get fatally injured by a train whilst chasing a suspect. Her husband can't cope afterwards and their three children get taken into care.

This was an Icelandic movie. Made in recent years (10 to 15 years ago?). It involes this guy with blond hair that hangs around all day. He frequently visits a cafe. At the end, I think there was an earthquake/volcano and he survived because he was in a basement of some sort.
BTW is it not 101 Reykjavík.

Trying to think of a film from the 80' or early 90's in which two young kids run away from home (I think) and they steal a Ferrari.

I think the younger one is supposed to be a robot.

It's not D.A.R.Y.L or Ferris Bueller.

Been trying to think of the name of this one.

    80's? film
About an american astronaut who had an accident in space, got the suns rays into his face or something.
After he recovered and was released from hospital (on Earth), he had severe photosensivity and first time outdoors, panicked revealing a superhuman ability, where he was able to enter hundreds of door codes in a few seconds to get back inside.

Can't remember anymore of it I'm afraid.

Sue your not thinking of the Six Million Dollar Man?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,951 ✭✭✭paulbok

Definately wasn't the six million dollar man. (but I see the similarities)
Don't think it was a well known film.

The first one I thought of was Firestarter (1984) with Drew Barrymore, but the title is not a girl's name. I've done an IMDB search, drawing a blank ...

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.

It was a failed TV pilot called NorthStar. I think BBC might have shown it originally (I can't remember an Ad Break). I do remember something that when he looked into the sun, his eyes would change colour, yellow i believe, however, if he over exerted himself, they would turn red to indicate he was about to drop dead... (plot point anyone?).
