Larceny inc.? not a boat but a luggage store
    one of my favourite movies
If no boat cannot be it. There were a few men in the boat. They may have ben going over and back somewhere to try to get something without being seen. There were buildings in the background, i think they were under the city or under some building but i don't think it was in a sewer

There's an animation I've been looking for for years. I remember seeing it either in the late '70s or the early '80s. It was either a stop motion animation with puppets, or a normal animated film. It might have been from Easter Europe or Russia, I'm not sure. It was based on "The Love for the Three Oranges" and I seem to remember it was used to illustrate that opera piece to children. I've been looking for it for years with no luck.

    Does anyone remember it?

think that was done by animators the Quay Brothers.

i can't find the three oranges one at the moment, but there are details where you can get it in the video details on Youtube.

An American movie from the late 60s/70s, in colour. One of the main protagonists is a scientist who has metal hands (no, it's not Dr. No), and whose head is completely enclosed in an iron helmet due to a nuclear accident. Set in a coastal city I think, at one stage the scientist is nearly involved in an automobile accident and is quite shaken afterwards. Don't recall any of the stars.

sounds a lot like The Good Liar with Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren.
Not sure though if it has been on TV already, as it was only been released in the cinemas a few months ago.

A comedy about a father (I think it is Craig T. Nelson but had a look at his filmography and nothing there) who gets upset at modern city life (crime) and the effect in his kids (teenage daughter dating assholes and his young son watching porn).

So he sells up and moves them all to the countryside where they before a family of survivalists waiting for the end times.

I can remember the scene where he catches the son - he and the wife think there is a break in the middle night. They find the kid at the TV smoking and when the father asks what he is doing the boy casually declares he is “watching Circus of Filth”.

Right, this is gonna be vague.
90s film, I think. A crew of people, similar to Ronin (mercenaries, thieves, spies) with other people chasing them ( law enforcement, military).
The main character has his lover or daughter killed at the start of the film then later falls in love with a female member of the crew but then she’s also killed.
Two scenes stick out in my mind, the crew are hiding out at a cabin/house and the woman sheltering them has sold them out. She makes some excuse to leave and picks up her cat, one of the crew asks “why did she take the cat?”. Then there’s an explosion/ambush.
The other scene is where some sort of special forces unit (I think) have located them and one of the crew (I thought it might be Jean Reno but found nothing on IMDB) volunteers to confront the special forces unit to buy the crew some time. He heads off in a 4x4 vehicle across a field, shooting a sub-machine gun out the window using the side mirror as a gun rest.
I’m pretty sure it’s set in Europe, possibly Soviet bloc because of the special forces unit chasing them. I believe the crew moved around a lot for the duration of the film.
Thank you to anyone who even tries to help on this one.

80s and 90s action movie wouldn’t be my speciality because there are just so many

However I google a phrase based on your description just for fun to see if I could figure it out

Mercenary (1996) has John Ritter as a millionaire whose wife (Jamie Presley) is killed in a kidnapping and he hires mercenaries to track the killers

The lead is Oliver Gruner and I be just realised I’ve never seen an Oliver Gruner movie

Horror film that I only saw ten minutes or so of late night on telly years ago. Looked like it was from mid to late 80s. African-American middle aged man and his teenage son were driving through remote rural location (Texan-ish looking) to go on a hunting trip . Son was surly and father saying to him hunting trip will make a man of him or something like that. Father wore a cowboy hat. They stop at a gas station and the son goes to the bathroom. Something reaches out from under door of cubicle and drags him in. Father looks for him when he doesn't return and asks attendant if he saw him but the attendant is obtuse and unhelpfull. I think that's all I saw of it.

I have a vague recollection of a film that’s bugging me- A teenager bunking off school for a day in england. Assume 1970s to 90s. Visits a chip shop, crosses a train line etc. With or without a dog. I don’t think there were many, if any words. Ring any bells for anyone?

It may have been intended as an ambient film- though is there even a proper term for this genre??

Long shot but might it be Nature Of The Beast ?(1988) Set in Yorkshire, about a boy searching for a beast wandering the moors, kind of like an 80s Kes.

Forgot to mention it was shown on Sky circa early 90s as part of a horror season. One of the other films shown was the Incredible Two Headed Transplant.

Another one that I saw on tv that's been bugging me for years. Some kind of conspiracy thriller from late 70s or early 80s. A mother is bathing her two young children and pops out to hallway (maybe to answer phone). Two hitmen in suits and wearing sunglasses appear. She pleads with them but they shoot her. They're just about to leave when the two young children run out of bathroom shouting "mommy, mommy". The two hitmen turn around in surprise as clearly wernt expecting kids to be there. It cuts away then to I think police examine the scene and indication is that the children were shot too.

Did you ever figure htis one out?

A guy in a helmet shaken after a near car crash is familiar - like I read about the movie recently.

EDIT: The movie that I'm thinking of has MI:5 tying to figure out if the defecting Russian scientist they have is a the real guy or an imposter sent to infiltrate them. Don't remember why he is in a helmet - I could be mixing two movies together though.

This film was on in a friends house but i had to leave ,

Film starts off with a Young Girl Burying a Bird in a Box, Her father is very aggressive and An Alcholic Passes out in house but wakes up , The Father is Rap??g the Daughter and beating the son any ideas.

Also the father cuts his son nails so he can't bite them and he burns the house down
Could it have been Nil by Mouth? It's been a long time since I've seen it so I'm sketchy on the details, I just remember it being very rough going.

There is a man leaving town, sat at railway. His body is half in the sunlight and half in shadow. I think he has a hat. I think it is depression era film so he could be leaving due to poverty , looking for work

Slight possibility it could be ‘Night of the Hunter’

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048424/

Some very contrasty depression-era cinematography in there

No but thanks for trying. The way he is sitting at the station half of his body is in the sunshine and half in shadow. Line of light running at an angle about hip level
EDIT: it is The Natural, and he is standing at the train station ,sorry

That is the one I'm thinking of. I gave MfMan a link to see if that is the movie in their head.

Strangely enough while I was Googling for clues I found a recent (completely unrelated) Indian movie called Who, but the spy movie Who? (1974) didn't come up.

    Hi,
I watched Contagion and I realised it wasn't the film I thought it was. The one im thinking is a pandemic film (maybe zombie) and the main characters are being kept in a quarantined area guarded by soldiers. They manage to suppress the virus or zombies.

Last shot camera zooms out from their quarantine area and shows another voice comes over radio saying there's been breakout in zone something.

    Thanks

No Romero zombie film ends like that though and they never suppress the virus in his movies either.

The end of the movie shows it hasn't been suppressed.

It was just wild guess as I was passing - at east it rules out the Romero's ;)

While not B+W, it's very grainy and shot very much dark and moody

See if anyone can remember this one for me, I havent a clue, i remember it from when i was younger for some reason.

It was based in the US i think, on a farm or that type of setting. There was a flood i think in the film at one point. but the bit that always stands out to me is they had a dog on the farm, and it got rabies and they had it tied to a post in the barn. I remember the dog on the rope\lead tied to the post barking trying to get to someone that just came in the barn door.
