I genuinely feel sorry for the fans cos the heart and soul is being ripped out of the club. The whole thing is a sham and it's just like a soap opera. Everyday thinking, 'right, what's yer man down in Cork gonna do today?'

Appointing Roddy Collins is almost malicious. And now Cork are being linked with Michael Keane?? It's one horrific nightmare after another for Cork fans.

It's almost like there's nothing there to support, to use a Dunphyism, there's a cancer at the club!

    Found these on Foot.ie

    - Roddy was on 96 fm yesterday saying that he will get City playing attacking flowing football and 100% guarntees that City fans will get their value for money. Also says he wants to sign 8 players.

    - From the Maltenese national paper, l-Orizzont
At the Independence Arena Floriana have set their case for the first time with Mr. Roddy Collins. The coach has until this weeks end to apologise for his false allegations in the media or face serious charges by the courts and Football Unions. With evidence in support Joe Cauchi, Alex Cassar and Dione Borg sat with team captain Julien Briffa to face a questions. All centred on the Irish coach with his behaviour. "Why was he irrational?" "Why Cork?" "What about money owed to him?" All answered with legal documents in support and a letter from the MFA to complete the claim of abandoning his post. Collins told the reporter of this paper on only December 12th that he was going to bring over his family for Christmas and New Year to move to a new house as his wife loves Malta. "What for the Cork job?" He laughed into the face and stated on tape, "Cork is a shambles, nobody is paid, the owner is a headcase, up in cloud cuckoo land and they won't even have a club. The only way is for fans to get rid of the (unprinted) in charge and be like Rovers." The reporter asked about the Evening Echo report. "Lies, I don't want to manage Cork, why would I go there when we're doing well." Asked about club problems he had mentioned on the tv show "Replay", "All sorted, sure it was only trying to fix things." Asked if he was happy and his contract support "I'm after being offered 2 more years, and I'll ask my family if they want to be here for 2 more years, the wife loves it here, the kids too, and young Rod will be in England soon and anyway." Finally the question on the supporters mouths, this season, how will it be. "I plan to make us into the best team in Malta in 3 years, no question. We have the money, the support, the plans are right, and if we're not league champions in 2 years then I'll walk away as I've failed. This year we get to Europe, next year challenge for the league and then win it, and I don't ever plan on leaving."

Recently Collins praised the "headcase" and attacked the supporters of Cork City FC, declaring how honoured he is to be in the club. Since July he has spoke of building a kingdom in Floriana, a top club with top facilities. Now he is in the fire away from the frying pan.

    - And Florianna set out their own plan
Floriana set out plan for campaign
Henry Brincat was at a hastily arranged media meeting today acting President Joe Cauchi took on the burden of answering the onslaught of questions related to Roddy Collins and the future of Floriana F.C.. After the briefest of statements, with no mention of the runaway coach, the Greens leader openly faced the media for the first time proper since the Collins debacle began.

"Did you have any idea Collins would jump to Cork?" - "No," Cauchi answered in his typically honest way "he swore he hadn't spoken to them or even had an interest in joining them. He said it was jumping from the frying pan to the fire."

"When did he tell you he was not coming back?" - "On Tuesday he called a number of club people and that evening sent an email saying he was leaving because he could not travel from Dublin and he was seeking alternative employment. But when he first spoke with our members that day he again denied speaking with or wanting to go to Cork. It was only that evening he began saying he now was going for the job."

Regarding Collins' claims of being owed money Treasurer Alex Cassar, a BOV manager, took up the story. "I have given you all the accounts related to Roddy Collins, he was paid all the way from July until December 11th, his last week working. For almost 2 months he chose to travel between here and Ireland, despite our registered committment to our obligations. For all his travel only 2 flights were paid by Roddy Collins, on December 13th Malta-London-Dublin. He owes members of the club in excess of €3,000 that he promised to repay by Chirstmas."

The notarised documents distributed to those present confirmed that Collins had indeed been paid fully and that this salary, 30% higher than any other coach in the league, was further supplemented by his lifestyle choices. Added to this the notarised and dated meeting minutes from Collins' first attempt to flee after the shock against Dingli, and the Irishman's comments on Newstalk 106 in Ireland seem more than just slanderous lies. In an attempt to add balance this paper called Mr. Collins in Ireland but received no comment. Cork City were unavailable for comment. While it is not for the good of anyone this case could well end up with a long term ban for the sport for Roddy Collins and with Cork's impending demotion and financial meltdown, no reward for the Maltese Irish.

Some shocking stuff from Roddie if any of that's true. His comments on Cork are lovely, hope you give your new manager a warm welcome in his first game in charge:D
Georgie has gone on trial with Brighton, but apparently Rodders is still interested:

Good luck Joe. Hilarious stuff from "the club".
Gamble heads to Hartlepool as Leesiders fail to attract new talent
    By Daniel McDonnell
    Wednesday January 06 2010

JOE GAMBLE'S move from Cork City to Hartlepool went through last night after overcoming a late hitch when the Leesiders sought a 20pc sell-on clause despite being forced to allow the midfielder leave for free.

The troubled Turner's Cross outfit, who still do not know if they will be in the Premier Division next season due to licensing problems, were aware they had to let the high- earning former Irish international depart to lighten their wage bill. Gamble is owed over a month's wages and, therefore, Cork were in no position to demand a fee.

However, their unsuccessful request for an insertion of the clause threatened to put the deal in jeopardy. Alas, faced with the prospect of Gamble fighting for monies owed, the League of Ireland side had to let him go for nothing.

"Joe's a ball-winning, passing midfielder who will give us some good experience in the squad," said Hartlepool boss Chris Turner.

Gamble will be reunited with former Cork team-mates Leon McSweeney and Denis Behan, with the latter also escaping the crisis club during a turbulent 12 months.

New City boss Roddy Collins is trying to put a squad together but his plans have been damaged by the fact that monies are owed to players under contract.

    Reluctant

Leading transfer targets, such as Glen Crowe, are reluctant to move south while other players are owed cash. It is understood that Collins has accepted that it will be difficult to start pre-season training while outstanding debts exist.

Another complication for Cork is that Maltese club Floriana are still intent on fighting the manner in which Collins left to take over the post vacated by Paul Doolin.

Relegated Bray Wanderers are on standby to take a Premier Division place if a club is demoted when the licensing process culminates at the end of this month.

Galway United are another current top-flight side that are troubled by debts and have yet to appoint a new manager, although it's understood they have been in discussions with ex-Shelbourne and St Patrick's Athletic defender Dave Rogers -- who was famously sacked by Dundalk last season for dropping his shorts in front of opposition fans.

Dundalk are also waiting to see how the next month pans out as they have been told to be on alert with respect to possible participation in Europe. The border club finished fourth in the Premier Division in 2009 and would take a Europa League spot if Cork were demoted and/or stripped of their place in European competition.

Meanwhile, Dundalk boss Ian Foster yesterday confirmed the appointment of Wayne Hatswell from Cambridge United on a two-year contract as player/coach.

    Floriana threaten Collins with court

Roddy Collins, pictued here after being named as manager of Cork City, appears to be on collision course with Floriana

    By Daniel McDonnell
    Friday January 08 2010

MALTESE club Floriana have given Roddy Collins and Cork City a deadline of tonight to apologise and offer compensation with respect to events surrounding the Dubliner’s controversial move to Leeside – or else they will pursue legal action for defamation and bring the case to FIFA.

Floriana are furious about the manner in which they lost the services of Collins and have gained the support of the Maltese Football Association, who will go to FIFA if there is no agreement sorted out between the parties in the next 24 hours.

Cork City said that Collins was a ‘free agent’ when they appointed him manager on December 23, but Floriana say that is not the case. After trying to secure a release over the phone, the former Bohs, Carlisle, Dublin City and Shamrock Rovers boss officially emailed the Maltese club citing personal reasons for his departure; they rejected that on the basis of his ongoing dalliance with Cork.

    Retraction

Floriana are pursuing a case against 48-year-old under three headings, and sent correspondence to Collins on December 29 outlining those points.

Firstly, they say he did not fulfil contract obligations by missing their league match with Qormi FC on December 18.

Secondly, they contest allegations made about the club, its members and officials related to payment of his wages and the house and car provided for his stay in Malta. Floriana are requesting a written retraction and apology from Collins or else they will legally pursue him for defamation and slander through the Irish courts given that he spoke extensively through Irish media channels about his problems – an interview given to Newstalk 106 on December 22 has been specifically cited. They are also seeking a retraction from Cork City.

Thirdly, they claim that Collins approached Cork seeking employment while manager of Floriana, a charge he denied in the days before he tried to quit his post in Malta. And, as they refused to sanction his departure, they say that Collins was acting illegally when putting pen to paper at Turner’s Cross.

Floriana want Cork City or Collins to buy out the remainder of his contract – a sum valued at €28,000 – or else they will pursue further avenues of compensation and will bring FIFA into the process. Acting Floriana President, Joe Cauchi, will attempt to speak with Cork owner, Tom Coughlan, or General Manager, Liam Meaney, today to see if there is any kind of offer forthcoming from the League of Ireland club.

Collins argues that the terms of his initial deal changed when he held discussions with officials at Floriana in late October/early November about his working arrangements. His family struggled to settle in Malta, which then led to a revision of his circumstances.

The Irish Independent contacted Collins last night, but he said that he didn’t want to comment on the argument being pursued by Floriana, stating that the affair is in the hands of his legal people. However, he said that he was unaware of any deadline set for today.

Floriana’s pain has been compounded by the imminent loss of Nigerian striker, Sunday Wasiu. They believe that he has been approached by Cork City after he left Malta to move to this part of the world; however it’s understood that he has been initially lined up for a trial at Coventry City.

Another dispute is the last thing Cork City need as they seek to cope with a variety of outstanding problems in the month where their Premier Division fate will be decided upon by the FAI’s Licensing Committee.

Earlier this week, Alan Mathews withdrew his legal proceedings against the club, a development which means that his case comes back under the remit of licensing. Mathews is listed as an employment creditor dating back to 2008, thus adding to the bill that the Leesiders need to settle if they are to have any chance of remaining in the top flight.

Doolin extremely critical of the club there. Some of the stuff he mentioned was worse than I had imagined. I know he shouldn't be shocked by anything to do with TNB these days but how on earth are Cork still in existance never mind the premier division? Absolute madness yet again.

Anyone know the January deadline for debts to do with the licence application?

    Posted on the ccfcforum:
Cork City Football Club regrets to advise that our website is currently unavailable. This is as a result of correspondence sent to the club’s webmaster requesting his VAT number and inviting him to tender for the 2010 season. This correspondence is consistent with that sent to all service providers to the football club, and underlines our efforts to reduce costs and increase efficiencies for the coming season.

We would like to thank our former webmaster for his contribution to the club over the years, however in the interests of transparency such arrangements as may have existed in the past can no longer do so into the future.

The club hopes to launch a new official website shortly.

Well done Meaney and No Bobs

The licenses have been a joke for years, Cork and Drogs last season and if reports are true, Galway owing creditors for over 2 years means they shouldn't have gotten a license.

Was a great site alright, and has won a good few awards as well. Seems the webmaster is still owed money for this month. They only reason the site went back up around Christmas is because he got paid, not by Tommy, but by Danny Drew. And now they are apparently looking to get the website back online, so to meet licensing requirements and still not paying money owed...do they know how the real world works at all

Just reading through the thread about the website ****down on ccfcforum.com.

From what I can make out, the club don't even own the domain name so all email will be down for the forseeable future.

Doubt many will be rushing putting together plans for the tendering process either.

You need a website for the license too AFAIK. Clock is ticking!

Why shouldn't Drogs have gotten one? Our debts had been 'paid' (and I use the term lightly) by the end of January last year. I think it was ridiculous what we got away with but its a problem with the countrys legal system that we could do that. No reason not to grant a licence.

Drogs were given a license on the agreement there wouldnt be temp seats put into the away stand, and no for one game this season was there extra seats installed, therefore breach of license.

I thought that might be what you meant. Thats the FAI's problem as they own the ground, I've explained this before. The FAI tied themselves in a knot but theres no breach of licence as planning permission was applied for.

Also, as i understand it, the seats (1100 of them) will be put in the home end, not the away one.

It shows the FAI are a joke. They couldn't refuse us a license on the basis of the ground, because then they would be seen as hindering our application, since they own it. It really has nothing to do with seats or the condition of the ground at all.

Any chance of them getting it approved?

Is it for a new club?

If it is, then it probably should start off in the A-Championship, or the MSL

Not in the PD or the FD, that's for sure.

But, I have a sneaking suspicion that there'll be a fairly large fudge here, and we'll see Cork City, under TNB, in the PD next season.

A Championship minimum, but since Derry got to restart in the First that may be a possibiility.

CCFC will get a licence if the club meets the licensing requirements, and we'll find that out mid-February (or possibly 1st February). I really doubt there would be a fudge, if you've heard what the FAI have said about the situation.
