Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So in the world cup year who are the best ever players never to make the world cup finals

    George Best for Northern Ireland

Ryan Giggs Wales haven't qualified for a major turnament in 50 years so the likes of hughes and ian rush are also denied there chance to play on the highest stage

    Ian Rush

    Mark Hughes

Steve Bruce overlooked for even a single england cap never mind a world cup place

Johnny Giles unfortunately came too early to play for Ireland at a world cup

    Liam Brady

Matt le Tissier Glen hoddle overlooked him somehow in 1998

Eric Cantona early retirement robbed him of a winner medal in 1998

Bernard Schuster caused a huge stir when he retired from international duty at the age of 24 to see his baby daughter instead of playing for his country.

The first word of your thread title.

Giggs would probably run him a close second.

Alfredo di Stéfano, best player hands down.

Johnny Giles unfortunately came too early.
    :p
Ryan Giggs would be the best not to play in the WC, Di Stefano close behind.

    .

    Not it didnt.

Cantona wasnt picked for the 1996 European Championship, chances are Jacquet would have stuck with the players he brought through, such as Zidane.
