If you upgrade on o2 does this start a new contact

I signed up to an 18mth contact with 02 which is up in December, I am planning on going back to PAYG then. I was checking my upgrade status as my phone is play silly beggars since I dropped in, it says I'm due a silver upgrade. What I'm wondering is if I purchase a phone as part of the upgrade available to me will this…

You will start a new contract, although perhaps a 12 month one.

Its only a silver upgrade too which isnt really much off the phone anyway
