The Shamones are gigging in county Galway for the last 18 months..primarily in Tuam. Made up of James Higgins and brothers Mike and Colin Lynch, this acoustic trio have some interesting covers in their reportoire including Cristina Aguilera's “Genie in a Bottle” and Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights". Indeed, much of what the band cover is of a unique, sometimes left-of-centre acoustic twist…and as such they have gained a good dedicated following. Rather than go down the route of pre-recorded backing tracks, computer-aided music and other such nonsense…The Shamones have a purist outlook. Complementing the acoustic guitar-playing – the band utilise a Cajon for some nice percussion and a Mandolin for an almost trad-style effect. Worth checking them out if you get a chance.
