Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you throw a cat out of the car window, does it become kitty litter?

Well seeing as toast always lands butter side down and cats always land on their feet, if there was a piece of toast sellotaped to the cats back (butter side up, naturally) would he.....hover....hmmm??

It's well known that if you attach a piece of buttered toast to the back of a cat (butter side away from the feline) and throw the feline in the air it will fall back towards earth and stop just above the ground where it will spin wildly.

Next all you need to do is get some magnets and copper coils and - Hey Presto - free electricity.

The Greens were going to get FF to develop this technology as a national priority but their proposals for an Animal Welfare Bill have scuppered the chance to develop this clean and limitless source of energy.

The Animal Welfare Bill will also make it a crime (punishable by eating two plates of (organic) broccoli a day for a week) to kill any insect while you are on a bike - so next time you see that cloud of midges - duck!

If the Greens had any sense of humour they'd introduce a Duck Bill.

I used to get them in Superquinn, but they dont do them any longer.
When in UK i get them in Sainsbury, or buy them in bulk in the airport.
They are very very strong. If you dont absolutely love very very strong mint and dark chocolate then beware. A unique flavour.

Nice article with Nicolas Roche in Pro Cycling this month. He likes Guinness by all accounts.

Also, read an article with Dan Martin in Cycling Weekly or Cycling Plus a few weeks back. He likes burgers.

I intend following their dietary regieme for a while.

I want a clear water bottle. I've seen them on other people's bikes in sportives and it's nice to see the liquid splashing around.

I've never seen these in a bike shop, and am concerned that it will make me the wrong type of Fred.

    Do they scratch easily?

    Advice please.

    @ Lumen.

I have the former, cant see the later. But I know what you mean by clear.
On the former, the red writing scratches, but so does the clear part. Looks horrible.

Ah, apparently Soma Fabrications do them, but they don't ship outside the US.

They do, but I have never paid for a bidon. Has always been thrown in free with other purchases.
I like Rapha stuff, but it is crazy expensive, and I will not pay €15 for a bidon.

True, but I ain't buying one of those either.
I have 5 bidons, all for free. I just wont pay for them know.
If I need a new bidon, I tend to buy a new bike.

Problem is you pass someone also out for a spin, they see your bidon full, they think "no problem, he/she not out long, must have fresh legs, I've been out for four hours already, no point in trying to catch them"

    Perhaps you are overthinking it.

I wonder whether I could use it to take along a performance-enhancing poison dart frog? It might enjoy the view.

Chemicals extracted from the skin of Epipedobates tricolor may be shown to have medicinal value.[17] One such chemical is a painkiller 200 times as potent as morphine, called epibatidine, that has unfortunately demonstrated unacceptable gastrointestinal side effects in humans.[18] Secretions from dendrobatids are also showing promise as muscle relaxants, heart stimulants and appetite suppressants.[19]

Seems a bit of a mixed bag. Perhaps I should get RobFowl to check for UCI compliance.

Is the mag any good? I subscribe to Cycling weekly and the subscription is up for renewal soon, but won't be renewing due to the exorbitant cost! so looking for a cheaper alternative.

    Anyway....

l'm after a set of wheels and l've been offered a pair of '09 black mavic ksyrium elites (no tyres) with about 100 miles on them for 300 euro.
l think its a good deal and l'm very tempted....unless anyone out there can convince me l shouldn't! ;)

I guess that's a good price. They are about 400 euro a set on both Merlin and CRC. Make sure there is no damage and they are true before buying, obviously. They are a very good wheel even at the new price.

I just read my post there. I say "I guess" because I thought 700 euro for a pair of Ksyrium SL premiums was good until Home:Ballyhoura found them cheaper again in another place. So, you may be able to find them new for cheaper than 400.

    (just some random tips)

Baby bottle brushes are excelent at cleaning your bidons.

Likewise baby clothes make very good cleaning rags.

1001 carpet cleaner doesn't clean your white bar tape.

Use a needle to clean the groves of your prakepads.

Put a tiny bit of air in the new tube when fitting it into the tyre.

Correct tyre pressure greatly reduces punctures. Buy yourself a floor (track) pump.

Don't cycle in the snow/ice. It's fun.... for about 5 minutes.

Though mine are not as clear as this I do get enjoyment (and serious euro points) matching the energy drink colour to my chosen cycling attire. I would normally have one blue to match the road bike (usually gatorade), or red to match the MTB (tomato ketchup) , and the second to complement my fabric (liquidised blackjacks if going ninja)........

    believe it..... or not

My favourite tip I've picked up here would be to described your carbon fibre bike as plastic, that way herself won't begin to guess how much it actually cost.

    Also,

Headwinds are great for building strength.
Tailwinds are great for practising pedaling technique.
Jellies from the back pocket always taste a bit better once the sweat has got to them.
You can't unclip quick enough to kick a dog (unclip before you get to the dog)

So there I was staring at the four big dots, think "I guess if you stare at the them long enough, they do seem to move... a bit. Probably if I was stoned it might really work on me".

Then I accidentally moved my mouse.
