Whats the bloody story with irish used laser prices? There's lads with 16ish boats selling for 3k then you see a guy with a 181 or 186 selling for between 3700 and 4300, and seen a 193 which would be pretty much new for 4300!

anyone bought recently? What ye buy and what did you end up paying?

Welcome to Ireland. Everything that is in any way specialised, is way more expensive here than UK/Europe/US. It's a bloody nuisance but a fact!

I know it's probably not the type of thing your looking for, but I bought a Pico in pretty good condition with a trolley and all the bits and pieces (including new main sail and jib) for 1500 from www.inss.ie. Maybe you'll find other sailing schools selling off boats of the type your looking for. Also, you probably know that this time of year is the best time to buy boats as people get rid of them at the end of the season.

    Good luck!

Yeah i waited till now to pick up a boat for that reason. Im actually looking at lasers in wales cos most of them are in better nick and with more than 1 sail!

Although Rory Fitzpatrick is selling his ex athens 2004 boat which might be worth a look!!

McCready Sailboats in Northern Ireland always do good deals.

What about shop local? Surely there's a chance of a deal down here too?

Think I've got sorted, found a 2002 boat on my door step but its not in the best of shape for the apparent use its got. Still thinking about it...

Just to finish this thread I ended up buying a boat in my local town and 5 minutes from my local club, 2002 laser, 175xxx, radial rig only, holt xd through-out, ronstan main block, little bit of gel coat damage where it had been tied up to a wall for a few minutes nothing serious, and spotless foils. All in for 2500. Not a bargain by any means but a good buy I think.

Could have picked up a 173 in dublin with a full and radial for 2000 but had was the basic system so I would have had to xd it, another 500 squid. Plus a 6 hour round trip to collect!!
