    UNIS

As happens to most companies that list with A new exchange they gain at first and then taper off and find a bottom. UNIS fell to almot $6.20 but is now starting to move back up. This news possibly started the upward trend, it might well continue indefinetly. YUII and ETLE are examples of two compnaies that listed on Nasdaq.

    Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Public, TSE:ANP)

If notice these two stocks the one above is down 19% after hours while the other one remains up 26%. This difference has to balanced. Therefore you could either short the tse one or go bullish with the Nasdaq one. I would say bullish is the best option. Worth a gamble for sure on the nasdaq to regain much of the 19% it has lost after hours particualry if your with td ameritrade you could trade pre market.

Yes, XFN is also up 49%. There are alot of stocks that have jumped today. SVLF is also up today its a combination of earnings and pumping up oversold stocks.

Biel seems to have formed a bottom. Might be a good play if you can get in under
    .025

Good PR but another delay for the Audit. March is the target date. The Audit could be a turning point for the stock if its good and Td ameritrade and Scottstrade lift their traidng restriction on Biel.

    QUOTE

THE FDA decision is due in May - June.

The audit might be a catalyst for a recovery of the stock, also technically I would like it to form a new price range with .30 being the bottom before committing to a buy. This would indicate an uptrend.

    VLKAY Volkswagen

This has been a brilliant short sell. I remember one of the stock take analysts on Bloomberg Recommended this as a short sell last summer and oh wow has it performed.

This analyst also recommended yrcw as BUY last summer so who knows. Just as volkswagen is turning yrcw is falling. :)

Neutral Tandem, Inc. (Nasdaq:TNDM) This is up 10% today.

This stock i hope will recover the damage the chinese goverement have caused my account. I also held through two credit restriction announcements from the goverment, and i couldn't have timed it worse.

    VLKAY also VOW

As i was explaining this was sold short almost all year all the way from $250 SP. It hit the bottom when i posted last week. It is up 20% already and is a stock i would love to hear opinions about.

TNDM started off good but then had a slight correction but is on fire now up 20%.

Biel I kept a running commentary about a poor volume and needed further correction but if you want to a safe play on the FDA run up on this .20 was most likely the bottom.

That VLKAY "looks" real good shame I was not tracking it. Best of luck with it
Pirelli you said you were not into options. but a stock like this is where i would play options on it, I will be doing this with UNG and GAZ soon.
Low capital outlay for very high returns. but you need to have your DD done on the stock as options are risky and you can loose 100% of your investment.

On a side note there on RMIX, RMIX has been trading under a dollar for 30 days now. so i am expecting a delisting notice from nasdaq to knock it the rest of the way to my target buy. either that or an offering is i think the next news for RMIX
    Also watching TSTR for .56 - .66

I am into options but i have no practicle experience with them. As some equities share price can be sensitive to calls and puts it seems inconcievable that i am not more involved in options.

Shipping is something i would be more confident about getting into.

Soem good news from the FDA.

Damn! Biel has taken off its up another 10% today. I think that's well on it's way. My money is tied up in another stock.
CCTC Clean coal technologies also looks interesting.

    Pirelli

When you say biel has taken off, what do you mean by that. Im in at 0.025..I look to hold with run-up to possible fda approval

I will look to enter CTIC towards the end of the week with a possible sell off for profits. I look to hold with run-up to possible fda approval

My money is tied up. I made 8% On Chio today. So better than nothing. I shouldn't bitch really.

I mean bollocks i missed it. Thats what i mean. What i mean Is that was the entry price. It is up 32% now. Your in at a safe price. You might even be safe to wait out the FDA notice.

GRRF my other rabbit in the hat is also out the door. It has earnings on the 17th of March. I was hoping it stayed low for a few more days. It might still pullback a bit. It's earning last time were up 300% so I it was one I had on the radar.

I told Dude240502 to buy Biel and mentioned GRRF as one to watch in a PM he sent looking for a tip , I hope he listened. I bet he didn't. His loss.

Hey guys, I am looking at a trade and would appreciate any advise from Bio people.... DNDN a massive pump IMO, May is the FDA date I am thinking of playing a straddle option trade on it the 25 dollar May puts and the 45 dollar May calls ..... My thinking is if it fails it will fall off a cliff and i will do well on the 25 puts. If it passes it will go nuts and pay me on the call side.....
So Pass or fail what would be your price estimates on either outcome
    Cheers

I just know its a cancer drug that would be successful in treating prostate cancer . Sounds like a wonder drug. This makes a big difference.

All of these have dropped signifigantly after FDA approval. The run up to FDA has to be factored in. Some These companies are not good investments period. As for FDA approvals bigger companies get one of these every few weeks.
    DDSS
    SPPI
    BDSI

In my opinion you risk it dropping no matter what the outcome however with DNDN and also MELA they will more than likely behave differently. It depends on the signifigance of the drug if its a Big underlying medical breakthrough then of course it will rocket, and also the prospect of immediate sales.

Mela might have that potential. A heavy call on Mela and light Put would be interesting. Mela is a non intrusive skin cancer electro detection system. Mela have done un precedented research studies into this device and it has an excellent detection rating.

So it seems very likely to succeed. I would have to research DNDN. But that is up several thousand percentage already so big numbers.

Looks like my CHIO trade is taking off also is up 14%. Hopefully this wont be far behind Biel in percentage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 535 ✭✭✭Bullish

The DNDN being up thousands of percent is what is attracting me.. the calls are just an insurance.. if it rises i will probably just break even but if it fails then i will make out very well..
The drug is for prostate cancer and its trails have given 4 months longer life expectance over the placibo... I dont know much about BIO but this doesnt sound too great to me!

If you had prostate cancer it would sound a whole lot better!

I am not sure, 4 mths might not seem much but that is not what relevant. It is a success in terms of proving a statistical signifigance. That is what FDA look at.
Are there any side effects and does it cause any pain etc.. What makes you think it will fail.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 535 ✭✭✭Bullish

It is not about if i think it will fail or pass, and I am not looking at the morals of the trade :o
It is simply a hedged trade, If it fails I make a lot if it passes I break even
but the FDA seem to have been quite strict lately ( or a lot of failures)

    Nice Ride there Karl,
Nasdaq released a delisting notice last nite after market closed,
RMIX has also enlisted help to increase their capital and the stock is being manipulated.
If you have a strong stomach hold on :D and average down,
This is a great stock to play

Your on the ball there bullish. That is a good play. A bit of an overeaction today with a 13% pullback but if bullish knew it was coming so maybe did the bears. which is a good thing for people on the side lines.

Chio is up another 8% ( 12% since writing) and I am not so bitter missing Biel. They still haven't lifted the trading restrictions on Biel and that is the real catalyst for this stock. Maybe it was just news of an interview that moved Biel along with a technical bottom play.

Ecos and Biel are my tickets out of the red into the green so maybe i havent missed them yet. IMO ( wild guess ) Biel might yet pullback before the next run up.Although its not looking that way...

I suppose there is always SUNV at .08 - .15 play.

Are you sure you break even... How much of a blockbuster is this drug. What is the market value. It wont neccessarily pulback even when passed. It is medium sized company with a market cap of 4.5 billion. The prospects of passing are rather good. The effect on share price will initially be good i would imagine. It wont fall like other stocks who usually have no partners and no finance backing them. DNDN isn't popular for nothing.

The possibilities of a delay or a setback are very real and if you can play that and break even if it passes then your a quite talented.

Now i can sell and buy Biel on a pullback.

RMIX is acting wierd.... it ran up yesterday on no news ;)..... then a delisting and we are almost back where we started.... earnings tomorrow
Lots of retailers shook out this morning.

SUNV i have lowered my target to .05 cent now..

DNDN is only an option play as i expect big price movements one direction or the other so a straddle is what i was thinking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,876 ✭✭✭pirelli

Well HR Block have reported earnings. The share price has dropped sharply by 2%.
The revenues etc are all down 4- 6 percent. Earnings however are up by .01 cent at .15 cents. JTX will perhaps also report good earnings. Might be a play in this.Nothing huge but a little case. UP 40% with chio overall.

CHIO is now up 38% today... YES I killed BIEL !!! I might also now be able to get into GRRF.
What do you think of GRRF as an earnings play Bullish. It down a few percent today which is a relief
if it can stay there as long as possible until i am ready to throw some money on it.

I have to keep moving my stop loss every few cents. A good day for me and a bad day for boardsies.

Not sure Pirelli, I dont really play BIO... I have burn marks from that stuff :D
Lots of chatter about CXM..... that might be good once todays low gets taken out..... AIB found support at 3.40 and heading back up to take out the 3.90 something high.. At least i hope it gets that high .... then Short ;-)

Thanks Idu, but I am only learning. I am just in the right stock today.

I have just seen so many threads where someone lost a loved one and they are annoyed with a heavy handed baliff or upset that their loved one could be callously shot. Alot of people here just rips them apart and as if to say they get what they deserve when in fact these are just people dealing with extraordinary events and deserve some support. I would like to see people make some money and call some trades.Put their money where their mouth is.

At least I use the internet constructively and not to just hurt people.

XCHO is in yet another correction -18%. Last time it did this it fell to .29 but the MM kept the ask high so i suppose this is inevitable. Advertising let down behind this I think. They missed an important platform.

Chio is wont stop. I cannot say why this is happening. I dont know :o
I really have no clue :o If this is technical it will surely drop like a bomb.

Time to move my stop loss another 10 cents. 60 % in two day's on half my account :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭Idu

Unfortunately the majority of people who come on here looking for advice are just looking for someone else to back what they were already thinking and from my own experience I'd never buy a stock that I was recommended without knowing something about it. Most of the stocks you deal with most people will never have heard of

Perhaps it has something to do with maintaining its nasdaq listing $1 for ten days.
Just as i wrote this i realised .94 was a good target sale. Then it bombed triggering my stop loss. Off 9 cents from the peak. :( Still a good days work.

ASFX is making moves in the last hour spiked up.

    InterMune, Inc. (Public, NASDAQ:ITMN)

This was approved then reviewed and now it has been passed. Check out ITMN
http://www.google.com/finance?q=ITMN it is up 64% after hours. This is what FDA approval can do.

It might be worth considering to short sell DNDN MELA and or ITMN pre market if they also get approval. ITMN will be interesting to watch and it would be similar i think to DNDN.
I am watching Mela and i think it wil be similar to ITNM but ITNM is being tipped as the perfect takeover by analysts so this it is no easy task to figure which way a Sp will move.

BDSI was approved and it ran up and then dropped 50% and immediately and hasn't recovered.
SPPI was approved after a massive run up it dropped 50% and is only now starting to move.
DDSS ran up alot and then dropped 50% after approval.

http://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/strangle.asp ....... this is the set up i am looking at

    http://finance.yahoo.com/q/op?s=DNDN&m=2010-05

So buy the $50 may calls and the $25 may puts
for one contract of each would cost 350 dollars approx

So the $50 dollar calls "if" it is approved would be in the money if the price goes above 50 dollars ...... and "if" it fails it will tank below 25 IMO.....
So minimal risk for max reward ... If it stays in this range through May i get nothing..

Can you use your margin to buy options. Also is $350 dollars spent immediately, i,e it's gone. It seems like a great idea until i realise that if i buy 10 of each contracts then thats $3500 dollars of money tied up for a month or however long FDA takes.

Can you still trade with that money.

Well, Some companies have different margin rates that allow a lower precebtage of your margin for lower priced stocks.

I was asking though, the cash you spend buying the options contracts say
you buy $350 is that your entire cash invesment and is that money tied up.
Is there not any other restrictions on how mcuh cash you must have available.

    DDSS

It recently had its drug approved and is now looking for a partner to market the drug and this will be the catalyst for the share price to take off. It is in talks.

The share price is down 50% from its FDA announcment.
The short interest has dropped from a .30 ratio to a .10 ratio with little share price change. It has held $1.47 for a while. The MACD is just turning bullish. Looks ready to run.

I have shares at $1.49 still holding. There is no reason for it to move news wise. There was a conference at cowen yesterday and it was quite impressive. The company looks good and has a very successful drug already in the market and many more in the pipeline.

This can only be positive but the CEO hasn't decided on a Partner yet and that is when it will move. So if your patient it might be good medium term investment. I don't expect any serious changes to share price on the downside and a stop loss would should work fine; it is a bio tech stock and these are always the riskiest but there is no pending FDA approval in the near term to casue any serious volatility.
