Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Attic Insulation

I plan on flooring my attic. The joists are 150mm. I have been advised to use 175mm of rockwool between joists to achieve an A3 rating. If I put in 175 mm and then put in the floorboards 25 mm of the rockwool will be squashed. I’m wondering will this have any implications for the ceilings underneath? Will it cause cracks? Has anyone here every done it? if so how did it work out?

you can't get an A3 rating based on part of your building alone

you will need 300mm to meet minimum b regs

you probably only need to floor the middle 1/3 of the attic ? - if so run 150 x 50 joist across the existing to give you the 300mm

NB - this will not be strong enough to "live" on - too weak . storage only
