Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Double jepordy?

I am of the opinion that if you are fined for an offence and you paid the fine that you cannot be prosecuted for the same offence.

What were you fined for and what offence is on the summons?

My car was impounded as my tax was out of date for almost 2 months. That cost me 125 euro. I was fined for failing to display road tax, which was a 70 euro fine, which I didn't pay (and i wish I had) Now I have to appear in court and I'm just wondering which arguement would be best to use. I did try and tax my car, I even got a day off work to try and tax it and I can prove all of this.

Id leave the violin outside the court and just admit you were wrong, there's nothing going to help you as not paying the fine makes you appear to the judge that you don't give a damn about the law.

Okay, I know that I am wrong, to a certain extent, but to just admit I'm wrong and didn't bother my arse paying the fine would seem to me to be asking for it?

I was thinking of arguing that I didn't pay the fixed fee fine on the basis that I was already penalised by have my car impounded and having to pay 125 euros of a release fee, and also that I did try to tax my car, it wasn't that I just completly didn't bother with it.

What happens in these situations anyway, does the judge give you a fine or whats the story?

Okay, I know that I am wrong, to a certain extent......

That suggests that you were in some other way correct. I cannot see where however.

might be an idea to plead ignorance of the 2nd offence and attend the court, with details of the tax you actually put on the car.
