Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Went for a test drive in an Audi A3 this morning. It's the 1.6 Ambition model with 58000km on the clock. One owner and the car is in very good condition. They're looking for €14,450 for it and €12,000 with a trade in of a 02 Fiat Punto with 76000 miles on on the clock. Just looking for some opinions on this... Good deal or not?
    Cheers

Well it'll need a timing belt at 4 years old but I think 14.5k price for 4 going on 5 year old 1.6 hatch is madness. Also, if you kept the Punto you'd probably get as good a deal buying straight cash an then flog the Punto privately. There is def cheaper A3's about though

EDIT - a Year newer, same spec and similar mileage. Also the more desireable diesel model:

Crazy money for an almost 5 year old average car.

That's nuts. you could probably pick up an 08 Kia ProCeed diesel for that kind of money.

A3's are overrated, especially when lumped with the rubbish 8 valve engine that only wheezes out 100PS, the 1.3 in the Yaris is more powerful.

€14k gets you any number of nice cars, don't buy into this idea that the A3 is going to be:
    Reliable
    Nice to drive
Worth much more than a Golf/Corolla in a years time.

There are '05 A3's on carzone from 9k, diesels at around 11k.
There's even 2006 models that are cheaper than the one you're thinking of
