Take normal route to Cork but turn off at Fermoy. Go through Fermoy to the N72 and follow that towards Mallow. Castletownroche is along this road.

Dublin-cork-bandon-dunmanway-bantry-castletownbere it will be the guts of 300miles allow 5 plus hours. There is a shorter way from cork but it would be easier to get lost, would save max 20 mins(cork-crookstown(killarney road)-copeen-glown-keakill-pearsons bridge-ballylicky-castletownbere)

Presume ye're familiar with the old chestnut? That if you drive from Castletownbere to Dublin, when you reach the halfway point you're still in County Cork?
