I know it's a bit cheeky, but has anyone got a DB dump (or similar) of all the towns in Ireland categorised by counties?

Something as deep as Daft.ie go is really what I'm looking for.

    Thanks a million
    :o

    Hi Aidan

Thanks for that - I was actually being even lazier than that and looking for an actual DB dump! Something that I wouldn't have to do much manual labour with! :)

Thanks Chico - I had a quick look and couldn't find one. I know there's a county list alright - I usually nick that from Michele's blog.

    It's the towns/villages that I need too!

    Ta!

Spent a while trying to get this into SQL, partly because I'm a noob but mostly because I'm an idiot ;)

But just in case anyone else needs it at some stage, might save some time. :D

For the next time, here is a tip I picked up from a USER, who seem to be able to generate SQL from a CSV file at lightening speed ;)

    - Import CSV file into Excel
    - Parse into columns
    - In right most column write an Excel function to generate SQL, picking up values from left most columns
    - Replicate function to all cells in the column
    - Copy column containing SQL and past as values into text file
    - have a coffee, your done!!!

The Excel function would looking something like:

="INSERT INTO.... VALUES(" + A15......" you get the idea
