Just noticed today that all of a sudden OPEN DNS is blocking websites on me? It says they are not allowed on this network??

If its legal how can they just do that?

    What websites are they blocking?

Are you registered with OpenDNS to block certain types of websites?

They've always supported options to block sites, which they're free to do on their private servers.

Who's in charge of Your network? Its a handy way of blocking certain stuff.

The easy way round it is to apply static dns to Your network card, use Your isp's dns server, have a google

Edit, if its Eircom with dynamic ip just reboot Your router to get a new ip

You'll need to give examples of what sites appear to be blocked then.

They have that tagged for blocking under several categories.

    http://domain.opendns.com/pure***.com

But domain blocking is only turned on if you have an account and set it in your options.

Same but OpenDNS has more features like content filtering. I use this myself to protect the kids on my home network. I've a static ip, but its also possible with a dynamic ip that changes, You'll have to run a software ip updater service in the background on one of your pc's. You get full control of what sites can be visited and can also add individual sites to a blacklist if needed.
