Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why Giggs isn't on the bench is beyond me, he's been responsible for most of Utds goals this season ffs!!
Giggs cannot play every game at his age, but say he will be able to play 20 to 30 mins, with the break coming up now.

Rooney and Berbs have been pathetic also, but no forward on the bench. The only option would be to push Welbeck up top instead of Berbs maybe and valencia on in his place. Bad decision making not having at least Macheda on the bench (hell or Giggs!).

    This is so infuriating.....

I'm not saying he should, but with his current form he should most definitely on the bench.

I'm a bit disappointed with Berbatov today. He isn't making the ball stick up top like he usually does.

Tbf the whole midfield and Rooney are also having a very slow day.

I expect a much better performance when the come back out.

Nani hasn't been any worse than the other attacking players imo.

    Horrible first half.

Enough has been said about Nani, but Im sticking to my comment last week that he gives away the ball more than half the time.

I expect Fergie to be giving proper bollockings in the dressing room now. Vastly improved performance expected.

Also, Iagos post has nailed the problem. Although Id argue that the specific match tactics today are hampering our chances. Ball needs to go to Rooney and Berbs feet.

He will not do that, this is the type of games Owen was bought for, the balls going into Ronney , Owen would take them.

Not many options on the bench. I'd take Nani off and take a gamble on Carrick having a good game. Move Fletcher out right.

Nah it was outside the box. Think it should have been a free though.

The problem for United (imo) is that for all their vaunted "squad depth" they actually have very few genuinely world class players, on the pitch today there's Rooney and a decent argument to be made for Vidic and Evra, and that's about it. In the squad you could argue a case for Ferdinand, maybe, but you're struggling after that.

Scholes, Giggs & VDS are all on the downhill part of their career and after them it's really just players that have industry and put themselves about the place or those that have potential that they are nowhere near realising. What saves United is that there's no team in the league that is significantly better off in terms of their squad members but when you have a team full of industrious but simply good, or even very good, players that come up against another decent team that are willing to harry and play against you then there's very little chance to dominate.

Previous United teams were better in almost every position than the opposition but that just isn't the case anymore, so it's no real surprise that there have been a rake of games where they've conceded first and come back or even lost and drawn games that logically you would think they should win.

Foster, O'Shea, Evans, Nani, Fletcher, Welbeck, Berbatov are all good players, but if they were all up for sale tomorrow it wouldn't be the leading teams in Europe trying to buy them. So it's no real surprise that a team made up of them aren't dominating a team that is actually pretty good by premiership standards.

I had a nice bet on Sunderland to finish in the top 10 of the league before the season started, and player for player there isn't a huge difference between the two teams at the moment.

I would agree with a lot of this.

    Very good post.

This is the real problem United have.

You simply should not be relying on a player going on 36 years of age for offensive threat.

    Nani still on, Scholes off.

You're right. I counted he retained possession 12/32 times that half.

And also with the break coming up now, he could play 20mins, Alec i think has blowen it.

Adding to the annoyance is having Keegan and that Yorke waster in the studio doing the analysis for a United game! (on ESPN this is)

    Ando for Scholes at HT.

I'd imagine he was probably able to pick up an advance copy. He's probably been playing it for a few month's already.

I dont understand people having a go at both Rooney and Berbs. They have had nothing to work with. Anything they have had has been up in the air and speculative, this type of service for two players not known for their aerial prowess is ridiculous.

The midfield has been the source of all the problems today.

    Sample size is tiny though.

I suspect that the deviance from that stat wouldnt be too much though in a bigger sample.
