Hi all, I am looking for advise on a baby carrier.

The Tomy Freestyle Premier Carrier looks good as it seems comfy and it cushions the head of the baby (ours is 1 month old on Sunday)

    Any advise/experience?

That looks like a nice sling, but I would recommend that you go try it on for comfort (with baby in it). Also, check to see how easy it would be to put into washing machine.

On my first child I used a sling like that, but found it swung around a bit and I always had to hold one arm around him, I could never get the straps tight enough.

For my last two I used one like this:

If you scroll down to the mystic cloud one thats how I carried my babies. I loved it, they were snug up against me, and they loved it too. Its very easy to tie once you have done it twice. I actually bought it in this shop that I have linked you to and the girl in the shop showed me, but usually a little instruction book comes with them. Its just a long piece of material, so very easy for washing.

My now 7 month old, preferred that I wore a v neck t shirt so that she could lean up against my skin. My now 2 year old wasn't that fussy, but was very colicky and the sling really helped to comfort him. I also loved having them really snug.

The one I bought was suitable up to 6 months of age, but you can buy ones for up to 2 years of age.

Hopefully some food for thought there for you and some tips on what to watch for.

There are two major things to look for in a carrier:
    1. The straps for the parent, you want one that goes about your waist for comfort
    2. The way the baby is carried, hanging by the crotch or in the hips open position. hanging by the crotch is bad for their hip development.

The one linked has the baby hanging by the crotch, can't see the parent straps
See this one is better on both counts:

See babywearingireland.com for great reviews etc

I would recommend getting a pouch type sling for the first few months and then an ergo one until they are a toddler.
    They are brilliant!!!

There are many types of slings on the market. As allready said it is not very good for the baby to be carried in the carrier in a sling who is not very wide as there legs will dangle down. The legs should be supported form knee to knee to be kept in a natural position which is good for the babies spine and hip development. A lot of the main stream carriers do get quickly uncomfortable for the carrier. I can still carry my nearly 4 years old daughter on my back and most people who only know the widely available slings are amazed by this. A good page to start your research about slings is: http://www.babywearingireland.com
