    No. Is that necessary?

Well it goes to show that you have no idea whether the majority of people were better informed or not.

All this talk of democracy? Where is it? The hypocrisy of it all angers me

Well now if you can get a million petition signatures when Lisbon is passed the EU Commission will now listen to you:p

Can't stand the shinners, or that Higgins kook or the communist party of Ireland for chrissake! The pro-yes media sure did a good job of painting Joe as the face of the NO side. But I voted no with a solid conviction that this is the superstate federal eu browbeating us into submission. This vote was not a victory for the yes side - it represented the humiliation of Ireland by a euro elite who would not take a democratic no for an answer.

All the yes people out there - enjoy whatever it is you voted for. But remember, when democracy is subverted even in your favour, then don't dare complain next time when it is your decision that is overturned, browbeaten then silenced.

One last thing, did any of you yes voters read the charter for fundamental rights? The Lisbon treaty makes our sovereignty irreverent - the charter for fundamental rights makes our identity irreverent. Is that a convoy of Romany gipsies I see on the horizon?

 Seriously what? First it was the Turkish falshmobbing the airports to fly here, then it was all the people of the Balkans just itching to up sticks and move here, then we had millions of aforementioned Turkish, who obviously missed the last flight floating here on tires... and now we're on to Romany gypsies?

Read the charter - if they decide to come, then we have to oblige. There's not a court in europe (our new masters) that would deny them. That's what you voted for.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

What are you talking about? Are you referring to EU citizens or non EU citizens??

I like the idea of human rights being irreverent.

    1. not relevant; not applicable or pertinent: His lectures often stray to interesting but irrelevant subjects. 2. Law. (of evidence) having no probative value upon any issue in the case.
Cowen says we might not vote again on a european issue for 10 YEARS.

We live to learn the hard way

The charter of fundamental rights does not distinguish between eu and non-eu citizens. But I'm sure you know this as you voted YES :pac:

No, that's the definition of irelevant...

And oh noes! Cowen doesn't (God Forbid) mean we vote on EU Treaties, and the next one will probably be in about 10 years, rather than having a referendum on the colour of the wall in the parliament?

... That could be fun though. THE EU WANTS TO PAINT ALL OUR WALLS. VOTE NO TO STOP YOUR CHILDREN BEING FORCED TO PAINT WALLS. EU FASCIST PAINTMONGERS.

Yes, of course. The lisbon treaty is all about what colour we paint the walls. Well done on clarifying this document for me. :P

I still don't get your point? Can you elaborate - so a convoy of non EU Romany gypsies arrive in ireland - what then?

Well yes, the idea of it being a fundemental human right means that it applies to everyone...

    Seriously? This a wind up?

We are obliged to provide food, medical, housing, schooling as well as a legal representative fluent in their language. They cannot be deported under any circumstances until the court of fundamental human rights decides their fate.

Perhaps you would like to have them camp in your back yard?

I was responding to a question if the charter applies to eu or non eu citizens. No wind up - deadly serious.

Your mixing them up with the last national socialist workers party experiment in europe - the NAZI party I think they were called. Concentration camp is such a harsh word - socialists in russia ans china prefer to call them "re-education camps" :D

It is no secret in the 'commission' that Blair is being vetted as a possible future president of europe, but you won't get to vote for him! No siree, Yes to lisbon put paid to that idea - forever.
