Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Slow Laptop - CPU usage 40-100% with no programs running

04-10-2009 12:20pm#1As explained in the title, I got a laptop just under four weeks ago and.
Its the "Acer Aspire 5810T" , It actually varies from the spec listed, its 4gb ram and 500gb hard drive. If im firefox for example and go to windows media player, its pauses and when the video comes on its pauses .
Its really fustratuing after buying a good laptop. Anyone have any idea whats wrong??

That laptop uses a single core low powered processor to help maximise battery life. Stopping some services will help but at the end of the day the processor is what is causing you problems and there isn't much you can do about that.0 -

Short answer no.
This is a slow laptop because it has a slow processor. That's the tradeoff for long battery life. You may want to consider disabling a fair few visual effects too whether you are using Vista or Xp (Properties on my computer - advanced system settings - performance) Choose Adjust for best performance, or choose manually the ones you want to keep0
