To everyone in the shooting community.
Here is an idea, we are trying to organise a Christmas party for shooters.
This will have no connection to any range, any club or any association.
The venue is to be the Heritage Hotel Portlaoise, the date Friday, December 11th. It is hoped to bring as many shooters together for a night out, no politics, no agendas, just a good night out.
Posters have been sent out to clubs that I have contact with. Loughbo, Nurney, Fermoy, Ballyhoura, Hilltop, and Midlands. Individual members of other clubs have also been contacted. We apologise to any club that has not been contacted directly, this is not an oversight, but we do not have a contact for your club. You are still very welcome to join us.
We can only secure 150 tickets for the night. Partners, wives, girlfriends and friends are all welcome.
Rooms are available in the hotel, but those attending must book these room themselves.057 86 78588.
Cost per ticket is €49.50, and a deposit of €25 per ticket is required before Sunday 10th October. Deposits can be made to your local club representive or Tony Saunders on 085 1741596 or Ita on 086 1934970.
The remainder of the deposit will be due three weeks prior to the night.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Ita or Tony on the above number.
Looking forward to seeing you all there on the night.

    Hi JW Shooter,
Consulted with both parties earlier in the week and neither one had any problem with this arrangement. But will reconfirm this again tomorrow. Thank you for your interest and realise safety is of the utmost importance, but we dont have alot of time to get numbers confirmed.

    Excellent idea.

I'm convinced that much of the in-fighting that's so sadly evident in the Irish shooting community grows out of our unfortunate tendency to hang out almost exclusively with people who share our own interests and thus have very little contact with anyone else.
Add into that the other unfortunate Irish trait of viewing anything done or said by anyone else with suspicion and an attitude of "what's in it for them, and are they doing/saying it to undermine us?", and you have a fine recipe for discontent and division.
This discontent and division is manna from heaven for those who's agenda is contrary to the growth and good health of shooting sports.

A social gathering like this will be an excellent place for people to see that others who engage in other shooting disciplines or who use different equipment to their own, are in fact ordinary people with whom they have much more in common than they have differences.

Hey b52, a couple of lads asking about these tickets. Told them they were open to all shooters regardless of club or shooting backround. They are keen to attend and asked me where to get tickets. Are there still tickets left?

Yes there are still tickets left and every club is welcome to attend, but tickets are going fast. contact your local club and leave a deposit of €25 per ticket or contact the names and numbers on the first postings for more information.
    A good night is assured.
