    Hey all.

I'm a first year HPA student and I have an assignment due at the end of the month and it's my very first but no one has showed us how to do it. I've heard about how it's important to reference properly and how I need a cover sheet but that's about it.

    So I'm looking for help!
Anyone who could give me tips or tell me anything they have learned that was important for them in their assignments.

I don't know how to phrase it because I had one time when I heard about refering to yourself as the writer? Well needless to say I'm extremely confused so any help would be appreciated!

First of all if you're having trouble with your assignment ask your lecturer or your fellow class mates for guidance and go from there.

If you're writing an essay and you are doing research either on the internet or through a book, and you plan to copy some information from these sources then make sure you reference them properly.

In the case of a book write down the name of the book, the publisher, the author and the year written. Also state what page you found the text from and what paragraph you found it from.

If you're taking stuff from the internet make sure you're getting a reliable source (not Wikipedia) and reference the exact name of the website and the date and time you accessed the website at.

It's so important to reference other sources so you don't get done for plagiarism (sp?)

If you're still confused about how to reference then see the following link.

This is handy to get you started. Referencing isnt really something you learn its something you just have to do.
