Software for creating DVDs

Can anyone recommend software (preferably free) dedicated to creating DVDs which would play on any standard DVD player? I have tried "FREE DVD Creator" but have found it extremely slow, and encountered far too many error messages, which ultimately made me drop it like a hot potato...

    cheers

ConvertXtoDVD is shareware but it is among the best.

Guys. I followed your advice and downloaded DVD Flick. Everything seemed to be going fine in terms of creating a DVD using this software. Furthermore the finished article worked properly on my computer. However when I inserted it into my DVD player hooked up to the TV I got an error message stating "Bad Disc". Has anyone any ideas on where I might be going wrong?

    cheers

I've never got that error with DVD flick and I can't find much info on the web about it either.
Can you try another program which was recommended?

Not all DVD players play burned discs.
